If there’s one thing we know, it’s that it is absolutely worth taking men’s health to where men are. Last week our good mate Paul at was generous enough to ask us to come and speak with the 200 odd guys on site at their Woden Build about all things mens urological health and prostate. Despite the fresh Canberra winters day the desire for a snag in bread and chat about some of the more important things in life came up trumps 👏💪
Awesome to see companies like getting behind initiatives like to the benefit of their employees.
Thanks to Paul for the invite and kudos to mens health Pharmacist Rob for dropping in last minute to get the job done
Working 😉💪
This week we’re at the in Brisbane talking all things continence with the nurses, physios and friends! We will keep you posted!
This weekend we headed out to Bathurst (home of the ) to speak at the Bloke and Balls event hosted by at
It was great to present alongside the ever dependable Jamie Physio Boulding and local prostate cancer nurse, the delightful and passionate Leanne. A good turn out to have a great chat about all things prostate, p***s, bladder and mental health.
Cheers to the crew that came along and if you need any support don’t hesitate to get in touch ❤️
Sometimes it can feel like science and medicine progresses slowly. Then you see articles like this one (titled: AI study reveals prostate cancer consists of two distinct subtypes) and it feels like the science is moving ahead at a great rate and learning stuff that seemed inconceivable only a few years back.

Great to see the constant progression of scientific knowledge! 💪
It’s a big day today! World Down Syndrome day of celebration (watch this space!); Harmony Day AND(!) Thank your pharmacist day (who knew?!).
Thanks to the good folk at our professional peak body the for the donuts (I guess eaten in moderation as a treat this sort of food is ok right dietitian friends 😅?!)
So to all our fellow pharmacists (AND pharmacist assistants, dispense techs, delivery drivers and head office support staff 😉) out there enjoying supporting more and more patients as pharmacists are unshackled and given greater ability to support patients and community health ‘pat on the back’ and keep up the great work (and enjoy a donut 🎉).
Cheers all
Coolo cool cats pharmacists
Pharmacy is a wonderful profession and there are people doing great stuff all over Australia. Mark is the community pharmacist in Goomalling (2 hours east of Perth in wheatbelt county) and he is working super hard to ensure that his little community and massive surrounding region have assess to high quality healthcare and pharmacy services as they would if they lived in Perth. Credentialed diabetes education, point of care testing, sleep services and now some Mens Health Downunder services (amongst most more). And this is in a one pharmacist town! How does this man find the time!
The broadening of a pharmacists scope is here already and it’s terrific to see pharmacists embracing it and even better to see patients benefiting.
Great to see so many inspiring pharmacists at the conference
Until 2025 👋

2024 heralds the expansion of services and assistance for men in the ACT region with pharmacist and all round good guy Rob Smith joining the team 2 days a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Rob’s knowledge of all things related to prostate cancer, particularly with respect to hormone treatment is exceptional.
One of Rob’s first public engagements will be next weekend in Wagga Wagga with the team from Oz Help at the annual conference where he will be talking about managing your health down there.
Great to have your support mate and keep up the great work helping guys better manage their health! 💪
We know that the more we talk about mens health the better the health becomes.
It was great to have Lachlan from on the Central Coast NSW at MHDQ HQ here in Canberra last week for training so he too can lend a hand to the good people and doctors on the coast.
Great to have you Lach!
Prostate issues don’t discriminate and BPH or benign prostatic hyperplasia (not to be confused with prostate cancer) is pretty common affecting 1 in 2 men at age 50 and becoming more common beyond age 50.
BPH, which is essentially defined as enlargement of the prostate, causes a range of issues including but not limited to difficulty urinating, weak urine stream, getting up multiple times at night to urinate, dribbling when stopping urination and hesitancy when starting to urinate. The other symptom which can be bothersome is a bit of erectile dysfunction 😳 - all things that are pretty obvious
King Charles, we wish you a speedy recovery and a successful outcome for the job next week. May your urologist be skilful and side effect few. And thanks for helping shine a light on prostate issues and more generally mens health - a timely reminder to talk with the doc if things aren’t working as well as they should (and even if they are working ok the regular chat with the trusted GP is advisable so they can jump on things before they become an issue)
Here’s to a speedy recovery and more discussion about these issues.
Oh, and if post surgery you’re a bit sluggish don’t hesitate to reach out and our team can help put the lead back in the pencil 👍
Was great to see Pete, who runs the MHDU program in Brisbane at featured in an article in Australian Pharmacist in October. He spoke proudly of the impact his work in mens urological and prostate health is having on all kinds of men, and gave a run down of what a day in the life of him as an MHDU pharmacist can look like.
James is out Mens Health pharmacist in South Australia based at Gawler. He was the first of a few that will be helping to better support men in the region with their urological health.
He recently visited the Salisbury Prostate Cancer Support Group to speak with them and the did a little write up on him and what he is up to. Check it out here https://www.pcfa.org.au/news-media/pcfa-champions/special-guest-visits-salisbury-pcsg/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Network%20News%20%20December%202023&utm_content=Network%20News%20%20December%202023
Mens urological health issues affect Aussie men the length and breadth of this magnificent country; issues relating to prostate cancer, continence and erectile issues and a bunch more and it’s not always (or even often) easy to get the holistic care needed.
It was terrific last week to get our pharmacist Brad down to Hobart to see the team down there (Declan and Damo pictured from ) to talk men’s health and to visit a few Doctors that play a pretty critical role in the space too. Certainly teamwork makes the dream work as they say.
If you’re in Tassie (because we know it’s not that big!) and need some advice or even just a chat Damo, Declan and the team in their beautiful new pharmacy at Rosny Park are ready and willing to help. And let us tell you - their pharmacy is state of the art - more private rooms for conversations like these than we’ve seen in any pharmacy anywhere (and that’s A LOT!)
It was a real pleasure to head to Hobart last week to see the team at Complete Care Pharmacy Rosny Park and see how they’re innovating in the pharmacy sector; both with mens health but also more generally helping their community live a happier and healthier life. Congrats friends on a terrific job you have done and continue to do 👏
It’s nearly the end of Movember and our boys moustaches are in full swing!👏👏👏
Men’s Health is so important to us and also to Brad Butt who is an amazing pharmacist and founder of Mens Health Downunder … we were lucky enough to have him spend some time with us in the pharmacy last week!

A good write up on testicular cancer from Mens Health pharmacist Neil in Perth. Stay on top of your health guys by doing a few simple things
Hey fellas, when was the last time you checked your balls? 🥜 Serious question! 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 is the #1 cancer in young men, and is also highly treatable and curable when diagnosed early. The best thing you can do is to give your nuts a feel every month or so - If you feel something different, act on it nice and early, by chatting to your GP about it! 💪👨🏻⚕️
Movember created ‘𝗡𝘂𝘁𝘀 & 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝘁𝘀’, which gives men (and their supporters) relevant and reliable tools for tackling testicular cancer.

As we grind slowly closer to the silly season (December) the Coolo team are still working on getting those moustaches worthy of reveal. Weston’s favourite son, Glenn, clearly not brave enough to reveal just yet but with only 10 days to go it won’t be long!
This let’s talk about mens health and get behind and the work they do for all of our dads, husbands, brothers, sons, uncles, cousins and mates.
Last night our men’s health pharmacists Brad and Rob headed to Parliament House to be on hand to speak with the politicians over dinner about what pharmacists can do to support patients and to work as part of a broader multidisciplinary health care team. As usual many of them were surprised to hear what we do!
It was also great to receive nice feedback and thanks from a bunch of them including
As always thanks to the for having us come along and also to the other pharmacists from all over the place who were there showing casing their skills and passion

It’s high time we blokes had more frank conversations about our health; mental health, physical health, urological health - any concern we have about our health we should be talking about!
This week here at our Canberra HQ we’ve had the boys (Brad and Joe) from Albany (WA!) learning the finer points of men’s urological health (ED, incontinence, Peyronie’s disease, prostate issues including prostate cancer, phimosis and a bunch more) so they too can head home and join our expanding mens health network and have these frank chats with their colleagues and patients alike.
So if you’re in Albany or the surrounding region make a point of getting in touch with Brad and Joe at the Chester Pass TerryWhite Pharmacy and start that conversation. And if you’re not anywhere near Albany you’re always encouraged to get in touch with us here at MHDU HQ and we will be happy to help out or put you in touch with your ‘local bloke’ - as our network continues to grow there will be a mens health pharmacist near you!
After chasing the sun and spending inordinate amounts of time with patients, pharmacists and doctors throughout regional and remote Australia for the last 6 months (or was it 7) our pharmacist Brad is back in Canberra and back at work. It was a truely remarkable experience to see how so many men and their partners are forced to simply survive owing to a lack of services in so many regional and remote communities - particularly when it comes to their urological health.
Time to change that we think here at MHDU!
Watch this space and if you’re a pharmacist, a doctor, a nurse or even just an interested individual keen to help make a bit of a difference get in touch.
Over the next little while we will have Brad spinning some yarns about the trials and tribulations of life on the open road, the characters you meet and the differences that can be made!
Stay tuned for more (and welcome back!)
Quackery or a good news story!?
From News.com “Red wine can help erectile dysfunction and increase female sexual function”
Somehow I guess we will just never know… one things for sure - too much of a good thing isn’t great for erectile function!

Are you ok?
Fantastic to see (and hard not to see!) these champions out on the road in their bright yellow increasing awareness about checking in with a mate.
As such, just letting everyone know we’re ok 👍
Also great to be wearing the Tom Curtain Drought Angels hat - another iconic Aussie doing great things in the NT.
Flick us a message or leave a note below - are you ok?
Big love on our big mens health lap!
They all come in many shapes and sizes - rock formations, waterfalls, fish and 😧 snakes!
and it’s assortment of waterfalls, rock formations (The Lost City) and it’s inhabitants were really impressive and a highlight of the top end NT.
The other thing that is amazing is where you can find a fella or 3 to talk to about prostate, p***s or bladder!
Exploring the Majestic Mt Isa and Raising Awareness for Men's Urological Health! 🌟👨🏻⚕️
As part of our Men’s Health Big Lap I recently had the opportunity to visit the wonderful and truely unique town Mt Isa and drop in to see the team at the where I had a great time with pharmacist Ben.
Having stopped off at a bunch of pharmacies to date to see patients and pharmacists, GPs and specialists I’ve got to say Mt Isa was a bit of a highlight; mining town, male dominate population, wide roads, friendly and welcoming people, great shopping (really well catered for town!) and everyone has Sunday off (unless you work at Bunnings or a camping store!!!!).
Honestly, Mt Isa was somewhere I’d love to return to and see some more patients. Until then Ben is going to be lending the men (and their partners) of Mt Isa a helping hand to improve not only their general health but their urological health and for that we’re extremely grateful.
Also cool to visit office and while he wasn’t in it was lovely to speak with Alice who was ever so knowledgeable about current resources in town include the local and the local prostate cancer support group - both who are doing a terrific job in town!
She’s a big wide country and once you leave the beaten track between the 100’s of KM there are some amazing people doing things you couldn’t believe.
We were fortunate to bump into some terrific locals out near Cobbold George in QLD and you wouldn’t ready about it, hubby had prostate surgery only 6 months ago and was just floating along - hard to believe. Sad. We can all do better and for the sake of our patients should do better and ensure that each patient (and their partner) gets as much support and referral as possible and as needed.
Here to help boys - give us a call or send us a message.
Ps how great are these cattle we came across our near Mount Surprise
Couldn’t help but to give a shout out to the quaint little pharmacy at the . The nostalgia of a pharmacy like this warming to the soul.
Also in the Atherton Tablelands (like Tim at the Malanda Pharmacy) it’s a critical piece of healthcare service for the local community.
The pictured Curtain Fig which is the crown jewel in the aptly named Curtain Fig National Park is just 4km down the road and shows the value of resilience despite hard times - these strangler figs certainly know how to make the best of the situation despite adversity. Amazing.
Loved our stop in the Atherton Tablelands, the pharmacists and patients we consulted. Time to push on and see the next lot of patients and pharmacists in the wonderful state (QLD) in the wonderful wild country.
See you soon!
It was great to spend some time with Malanda born and bred pharmacist Tim at his Malanda Pharmacy, part of the group to talk men’s urological health and his Atherton Tablelands community (just inland of Cairns QLD).
What a kind, caring and passionate pharmacist making a difference in his little neck of the wood; well done Tim - keep up the great work.
As for Malanda its known for its vibrant dairy farming industry ( - WOW what amazing yoghurt 😍), captivating waterfalls, and the iconic Malanda Falls (adjacent the Caravan Park!). The town's warm community spirit and thriving local markets make it a delightful destination for both nature enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful rural retreat.
Thanks for having us mate and keep up the great work
Ps the Mo has been removed since this was taken 😉
This beautiful little butterfly up at the Karanda decided to land on one of our little ones finger and she was SO excited. Their collection of butterflies was spectacular and the Cairns Birdwing a real standout (it’s the largest endemic butterfly in Australia with the females growing to over 16cm)!
You may well wonder what butterflies have to do with mens health but say with me…
Over 1 million Australians are living with an eating disorder and less than a quarter of those receive treatment or support.
Today we wanted to give a shout-out to the wonderful group at who help Aussies with eating disorder. We know eating disorders can affect boys and girls, men and women and those of any age.
