Country Gold netball schedule….
Get netball into your school in Term 4! We have two great options that may be tailored to best suit your needs – check out the details below, and tag your HPE teacher or school now 🤍💚
Netball Schools is an Australian Sports Commission initiative that is run in school hours at a time which suits the school, i.e. during HPE lessons. Netball Tas provides experienced, qualified coaches, and they bring all the planning with them – there’s no preparation required! This program is suitable for Kinder – Year 10 aged students. Booking in for this program now puts you in the draw to win a Hart Sport ball kit for your school to keep! Schools must have secured funding from Sport Australia to be eligible*. Book your Netball Schools program here: https://www.sportaus.gov.au/schools/schools/sports/netball
Our new After School Netball Program is a recent Netball Tasmania initiative that run on school grounds straight after the final bell! Netball Tas employs qualified coaches to go to the school and deliver the sessions, exclusively to students of that school. We are currently aiming the program at Grade 3&4 aged students but will be open to negotiation! The length of program can be set for between 6 to 10 weeks, with a small fee of $10 per session per student. To book or get more information, email [email protected]
* If you missed out on funding for Term 4, don’t worry – before the end of the year, you’re able to apply for Term 1, 2024! There will be a reminder on our socials when funding applications open 😊

The Country Gold Carnivals will be a one-day event on Friday 23rd September.
Start and finish times may be adjusted if venue availability permits.
Leaders from School Associations have collaborated to determine the best available solution following the announcement of a Public Holiday on Thursday 22nd September.
Country Carnivals involve approximately 80 staff/volunteers, 350 students from over 35 schools and many hundreds of family members. There are significant challenges when making changes to an event of this size.
It is not possible to hold the carnival on a Public Holiday. The event could not continue as scheduled.
Students travel from as far away as Marrawah and Bicheno to attend the carnival. Feedback from Associations was clear that running the carnival on non-consecutive days (e.g. Wednesday/Friday) was not a reasonable solution for families travelling large distances.
Moving the carnival to either the next week or into Term 4 presented many challenges. Strong feedback indicated that changing it to the following week posed obstacles to students and families, including difficulty getting time off work. It is highly unlikely that we would be able to secure suitable venues for an event of this scale at such short notice. Moving the date to Term 4 was also deemed unsuitable. Coordinating suitable venues on days that all 35 schools were available proved too challenging. Impacts of COVID has resulted in most schools and Associations running Athletics Carnivals in Term 4 in the lead up to the State Carnivals. This impacts significantly on an already busy Term 4 calendar.
While we appreciate that each family will have different preferences about what the best course of action should have been, Associations have collaborated to determine the best way forward considering the needs of their students and families.
Carnival organisers will communicate changes to carnival programs at the earliest opportunity.
The Federal Government have announced that Thursday 22nd September will be a Public Holiday to commemorate the Queen. This was going to be the first day of Country Gold.
Associations will be working over the next day or two to work out a solution. We will let you soon as soon as a decision is made.
