Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer is a not-for-profit initiative of Cabrini with a vision to significantly l We really can beat bowel cancer”.

“We have the capacity to prevent and diagnose bowel cancer at an early stage and save many lives. Screening of people without symptoms and early investigation of those with symptoms can lead us down the path to ultimately eradicating the disease. Emeritus Professor Adrian Polglase

Late last month Cabrini Foundation hosted the 17th annual Let's Beat Bowel Cancer Golf Classic at the impeccable Kingston Heath Golf Club. This event continues to be an all-important fundraising initiative for Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer, raising vital funds to support the continuation of our early intervention and research programs.
To reach 17 years was an amazing milestone and the success of this event is due to our phenomenal group of generous and loyal sponsors, who have believed in and supported us on our mission to significantly lower deaths related to bowel cancer through public awareness, research and medical advances.
A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors, some of which have been supporting us for more than 16 years.

Jessica Monteriso tragically lost both her parents to cancer. Since then, she has spent her time concentrating on putting one foot in front of the other, and taking life ‘One Panino At A Time’.
The idea to start her blog last year, One Panino At A Time - A Guide to the Best Paninotecas in Melbourne, flourished and now Jessica is selling hampers on her website, with proceeds going towards Let's Beat Bowel Cancer.
Delicious Christmas Hampers will be available to purchase from 18 November at www.onepaninoatatime.com.au, with 10 per cent of the sales going towards the Lets Beat Bowel Cancer initiative supported by Cabrini Health Australia.

The 4th VCCC Alliance Postdoctoral Symposium: Advances in Cancer Research was held last Friday, showcasing some of the most exciting developments from early and mid-career researchers in basic, translational, and clinical research nationwide.
Due to COVID-19, the popular event was held virtually for the first time, giving Victorian researchers a rare opportunity to compare notes with peers from across the country.
This year’s theme was Advances in Cancer Research, and we are proud to announce our very own Senior Research Fellow Dr Simon Wilkins was awarded the Consumer Prize for his talk on the Let's Beat Bowel Cancer and Cabrini Research/Foundation funded project: “Tissue slice assays as an intact colorectal microenvironment for next-generation drug development”.
Congratulations to the award winners and all of the presenters for sharing your research.

Bowel screening during Covid 02/09/2021

Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer want to remind our community not to put your health on hold.
Doctor’s surgeries and hospitals are still open and have thorough screening processes in place for all patients, staff and visitors.
The most important message is this: It’s more important than ever not to forget other aspects of your health.
If you have any concerns regarding any aspect of your health, make an appointment with your health professional.

Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer is incredibly grateful to have received a very generous donation from Workday ANZ, who hosted an auction fundraiser in memory of one of their much-loved workmates.
James Hayne was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the end of 2020, and sadly passed away earlier this year.
James was passionate about raising awareness of bowel cancer, to help others, while he was fighting the disease himself. Sadly, James was not able to be part of the fundraiser, but his workmates raised $14,000 from donated auction items, raffle tickets and pledges. Workday’s Giving and Doing Foundation also matched all Workday team member contributions, almost doubling the amount, in honour of his memory.
A huge thank you to everyone at Workday ANZ for your incredible generosity, which will no doubt change lives.
