A few weeks ago, we asked our followers to share their earliest memories with us. Some customers reminded us of the High Street store in St Kilda before 1972 and the sawdust on the floor. That detail brings back the charm of a bygone era.

Back then, modern flooring materials were not as readily available, and sawdust was a popular choice for both butcher shops and bars. Sawdust was used to absorb blood and other fluids, prevent slips and falls, control pests, and make cleanup easier.
