Yep, change that habit!
Why? Drinking coffee on an empty stomach first thing in the morning can interfere with your cortisol levels, mess with your circadian rhythm (sleep habits) and create blood sugar irregularities.
It can actually leave you feeling a little more stressed, anxious and tired later on in the day.
Instead, as most people wake dehydrated, start your morning with a glass of water and eat a protein filled breakfast before that cuppa ☕️
Cue reel song - 🎵I can be your new addiction 😉)

The evidence to date demonstrates poor nutrition can contribute to the severity of ADHD symptoms. Therefore, by addressing one’s nutritional intake may improve symptoms and mental health.
Clinician Tips
* Encourage the family to eat a wholefoods diet. This includes a diversity of - vegetables, protein, whole grains, fruit and healthy fats. Eating "clean" decreases processed foods that do not add nutritional value. It also naturally eliminates additives, artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, sugars and preservatives that may contribute to ADHD symptoms.
* Eating wholefoods every 3-4 hours can help to balance blood sugars and regulate emotions. Make sure protein is optimal throughout the day.
* Deficiencies in key vitamins and minerals may affect concentration and neural activity. Get a bloods or hair test to check your levels
* Lastly, consider the gut and absorption. If the digestive system is not optimal, key nutrients will not be utilised effectively. By improving the gut can have significant benefits.
It makes sense that if your body is low in important neural functioning nutrients, it won’t function optimally!
Several studies have demonstrated reduced vitamins and minerals in those with ADHD.
These include : Iron, Magnesium, B Vitamins, Vitamin D, and Zinc.
A nutrient filled diverse diet is always the first point of call, however sometimes supplementation is required to optimize levels quickly. Then we can maintain them with the nourishment of food. ✨
Negative ions are invisible calming molecules that we inhale in certain environments ~ Think mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the chemical serotonin, helping to improve moods and relieve stress.

Winter is here ❄️
And along with Winter comes extra germs 🦠
Caring for your child’s immune system over this times takes a ‘holistic’ approach. Holistic means looking at the ‘whole’ child, and what could be compromising their health.
Here are a few things to consider when supporting the immune system -
• Are they eating enough nutrients through wholefoods ( vegetables daily, protein, wholegrains and minimal processed food)?
• Struggling with foods that make them feel unwell ?
• Getting enough sleep ?
• Having good daily poo habits?
• practising good hygiene ?
• or are their little minds continuously on overdrive?
If your child is constantly being hit with colds, viruses and bacteria, assessing these factors can assist with the health and growth of your child 🌼
Moody Teens
Anger, frustration, and tears can all be normal behaviours during the transition from child to adulthood.
Young adults are having to endure physical changes, hormonal changes as well as brain changes. Interestingly brains do not reach their full maturity until mid to late twenties!
However, there are ways we can assist our teens with these high and lows by supporting them holistically through nutrition and lifestyle...
Are you eating plenty of foods daily that contain these essential vitamins and minerals 👇🏽?
If you are not, you body may lack important nutrients to assist with the production of progesterone.
Check in with the wholefoods you ate throughout today - Veg, seeds, nuts, protein either from meat sources or lentils and legumes, good fat sources like avocado, whole grains and fruit?
Are you practising stress reducing techniques?
Your body will preferentially make cortisol over progesterone if it’s constantly exposed to stress. If you’re always running on adrenaline your body may not be producing enough progesterone.
Try mindfulness, yoga, and deep breathing throughout your day to assist the body ‘out’ of adrenaline mode.
Are you getting enough sleep?
Regularly getting a full 8 hours of rest a night may help the body regulate hormone levels.
Make sure to avoid stimulants after noon, avoid blue light before bed, and work with your natural circadian rhythm during the day.
