I've just returned from Adelaide where I undertook a fantastic course in Scar Therapy with RESTORE Scar Therapy. I've been a Scar Therapist for a few years now, having undertaken 2 previous courses ....one Australian, one American. This course is created and delivered by Emma, an amazing Practitioner from the UK and has been a really valuable addition to my toolkit. It amazes me how many new things can be learnt, old things reinforced or reminded, and how progressive different perspectives can prove.
If you have scars, it is possible you have referred pain or altered sensations, adhesions or restrictions in movement that you might not realize are related to your scar. It's worth your while to find out.

Megan's program has been a game changer for me during menopause. I highly recommend the 12 week program to anyone wanting help with improving their eating choices, feeling better, reducing inflammation and being educated about how to choose food that works for you and tastes great

The next time a food pusher asks you," Are you dieting?" you can say "No actually it's called healthy eating."

Don't let other people's opinions derail your choices.

For personalised strategies to ditch dieting now is the time to book my 12 Week Lose Weight & Live Well program into your diary!

Why does everyone keep saying to get out and walk?? Because its probably the easiest exercise to squish into our busy days. This graphic is on page 13 of the 4 Ingredients Keto recipe book. I wanted to share it because instead of just saying "walking is good for you", this breaks it down clear and simple HOW walking benefits you. It's free, you don't need special equipment(go barefoot on the grass or sand!) and you get to judge how long you do it for and when you do it.

I've borrowed this from another lipedema/lymphoedema page because it's awesome and gives you a great guideline for how to incorporate water work into your exercise routine. Thanks Lipedema Fitness for the great info. 🙏👍

Hello everyone,
So this happened!

I was informed that I have won the best Nutritionist in Hervey Bay by the Quality Business awards-I had no idea I had even been nominated!

I want to thank all of my clients and local businesses that support me and my business every day.
The last 3yrs since taking the leap to work my business full time has been the best decision I've ever made, every day I come to work it's an absolute pleasure and my office is my happy place.

I feel so much joy seeing my clients reach their goals and knowing I had a small role to play in them enjoying life again is amazing to me.

So thank you all again, this means a lot.

❤️ Megan

You might not see yourself in any of these images but still suspect that there is 'Something Going On' with your body. It can be hard finding help as it is still being recognised as a condition in the medical industry. To find a GP or other health professional in your area who can help try the Lipoedema Australia website at www.lipoedemaaustralia.com.au for practitioners and support groups in your area, or message me!!!!

Just in case you need to hear this today.

Living with Lipoedema is:

Feeling like you are constantly being judged for your size
Frustration with the lack of medical knowledge and support
Constantly being told you're obese
Mentally and Physically draining
Painful!
Changing your life style to include alot of selfcare to manage the condition
Lonely and isolating
Looks different on everyone (there are 4 stages and different levels)

NOT YOUR FAULT!!!!!!

There are ways to help manage what is happening to your body. We will be focusing on many of those options in the coming weeks, but it is important to first identify if you have lipoedema.
Step 1 is recognising the signs and symptoms.
Step 2 is accepting that you may have this condition.
Step 3 is speaking to others who understand and can support you with knowledge and tools to helpmanage the condition
Step 4 is designing a management program that suits you and your lifestyle to help you live your best life.

Want more info?? Message me!!!

Do any of these symptoms resonate with you?? You could have Lipoedema. Lipoedema is underdiagnosed and many women live their whole lives without help or knowing that there are things to be done to help.

This disease can impact us on so many different levels -

Many of us live with pain and tenderness in our legs. It may come and go, or it may be there constantly, but we don't know WHY it hurts. This can impact us emotionally and physically.

Many of us struggle with feelings of 'looking different', feeling heavy or not being able to conform to societies current ideals of 'beauty', which can impact on how we engage social and emotionally.

Many of us struggle with unexplainable fatigue, which can impact on our mobility and ability to engage in life events.

Getting a diagnosis or chatting with someone who knows about Lipoedema is a great starting point to find help and information to manage all of these symptoms and many many more that are common to people living with Lipoedema. Want some help? Message me!!!!

Raising awareness of Lipoedema can not only help us support each other but lead to better support from our medical and health systems. We need this!!

June is Lipoedema Awareness month. Lipoedema is an Inflammatory connective tissue and adipose tissue (fat) disease, that primarily affects women. It has been reported that between 11 and 15 percent of women are impacted by Lipoedema, but that only reflects diagnosed cases. In many cases women living with Lipoedema are misdiagnosed as being obese, so it's likely the number of cases is much higher.
Lipoedema looks different on every body, but there are a number of common signs and symptoms that help with diagnosis. Keep an eye on our posts over the next month to learn more about Lipoedema, how it impacts you and managment options.

Some people love it, some people don't, but dry brushing gets your circulation and lymphatics moving. It can be a relaxing part of your self care routine and provides you with a quiet, productive few minutes in the day to be respectful and kind to your body. Find a soft brush or even a loofah glove to start off with if you find regular brushes irritating.

Lipoedema and Lymphoedema...what are they, how do you know if you have them and how do you manage them. Come and ask Tanya today in clinic at Moon Chiropractic and Wellness Centre Maryborough between 12.15 and 1pm.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is one of THE most effective ways of keeping swelling at bay. Book in for a full body MLD with a qualified therapist at least once a month, and ask them to show you how to do your own MLD at home between visits.

Prevention is always better than cure and maintaining supple moisturised skin is the best way of protecting yourself against slow healing wounds and infections that can turn into ulcers.
Our best tips:
1. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise, and
2.Cover up to prevent sunburn, cover up when gardening and cover up when playing with animals.

Get those arms and legs in the air! My favourite? Lying on your back with your legs up the wall. Start off for shorter periods of time until you get used to it, then work up to 10-15 minutes. Scroll or read at the same time to get those arms up as well.

13/03/2023

Keep an eye on your wee as a good indicator for how much WATER you need. We are aiming for light coloured wee. Don't like plain water? Add sliced cucumber, orange, lemon, berries or mint to add flavour and vitamins and minerals.

This week we are looking at ways to support your lymphatic system anywhere, anytime without any extra tools. Just you and your body.

Our Story

Hi! I'm Tanya Murphy, Remedial Massage Therapist, Oncology Massage Therapist and Lymphedema Management Therapist.

I have been working for several years now in this field and have a great passion for helping people find relief from pain and anxiety associated with injury and illness.

Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is a wonderful therapy that helps to address issues arising from busy stressful lives, injury, postural imbalances and just overall fatigue. Headaches and migrains, back, neck, shoulder and hip pain and tension can all be eased through remedial massage, stretching and self care, helping you live pain free sooner.

Oncology Massage
For a long time people thought that massage was 'No-No' when it came to cancer, but extensive scientific research has proven that not only is massage safe for people living with cancer, but when delivered correctly, by therapists with specific training, it is in fact actually beneficial in helping people cope with the side effects of cancer and it's treatment options.
Working with people living with a cancer diagnosis and the side effects of cancer treatment, including lymphoedema, pain, nausea, fatigue and insomnia, is my specialty and my passion.

My training helps me to deliver a therapy to you that makes cancer treatment more manageable by safely addressing your needs.
This means paying close attention to your physical, emotional
and psychological needs during diagnosis, treatment, recovery, survivorship or palliative care.

Lymphatic Drainage
I can assist you in living with lymphoedema by helping you with lymphatic drainage, self care education, exercises and information or referral with bandaging and garment ordering.
Lymphatic drainage is a wonderful therapy that assists with a number of conditions as well as strengthening the immune system...especially before 'flu season'.

I'm very happy to answer any questions you might have about any of the treatments that I offer, so feel free to call me today!
