Over 40 years, three generations and an immense amount of pride.
Congratulations to a man who is a Brother, Dad, Uncle and Son- our John Tripodi, recognised for his 40+ years of service at the Queen Victoria Market by the City of Melbourne.
We are beyond humbled and extend our thanks to those who have shown their love and support over the last 40+ years. We are enjoying these archival shots of John and his siblings and fellow traders, circa 1980s, photographed at our original stall in A Shed at the Queen Victoria Market.

We are saddened to share the passing of our Nonna, Mum and our Matriarch, Maria Tripodi.
Our Nonni started our business as a modest fruit stall at the Queen Victoria Market in the early 1960’s with nothing more than a hope for a better life for their family. Nonna grew to become a pillar of the Queen Victoria Market community, much loved by many for her warmth, generosity and cheeky sense of humour.
At 93 years of age Nonna was a forced to be reckoned with, still reflecting so fondly and with so much pride on her memories of where it all began.
Over 60 years later, we are proudly carrying on Nonna’s legacy, striving for her level of dedication and commitment to providing the freshest produce, the greatest service, but most of all the feeling of family.
To honour her memory, we will be closed on Tuesday 13th of June as we farewell our beloved Nonna. We thank all of our wonderful customers for your continued support of us - it’s everything Nonna could have ever dreamed of. 💚

Mushrooms are a staple at QH, but we’re not just in the business of basics.
This year we’ve been fortunate to source an abundance of rare fungus, including Birch Bolete, pink, blue and gold Oyster, black and white Truffles, Morels, Pines and Lion’s Mane.
Alice Zaslavsky and Sustainability Victoria show us how to shop sustainably at Queen's Harvest!
Here are some of Alice's top tips to help ditch single-use plastics when shopping:
- Buy your vegetables whole and loose – they're already in nature’s packaging. Foods like corn, pineapple, avocados, carrots and bananas don’t need to be put in a plastic bag!
- Lettuce has outer leaves as packaging, but if you need to buy lettuce and other leaves loose, use a mesh bag, and if you forget these, grab a paper bag from the mushrooms. You can even bring the paper bags back and reuse for a couple of rotations.
- For berries, try to find compostable packaging rather than plastic and for citrus, use your mesh bags for these as well.
