Movement of the Month - Back Extension with Pilates Chair 💪🏽
At Livewell Health Group, we’re always looking for ways to support your back health and prevent recurrence of injury.
A recent systematic review in Sport Medicine - Open Journal showed that improvements in back pain, disability and strength after 12-16 weeks of posterior chain strength training is significantly greater than a generalised exercise program. Posterior chain resistance training includes strengthening of the middle and lower back as well as hip extensor musculature.
One of our favourite moves is Back Extension on Pilates Chair. This exercise is effective because it strengthens and focuses on controlled lengthening of your lower back muscles, helping you build stability and flexibility. In addition to that, it focuses on strengthening the trunk, core and hip musculature which keeps your spine well supported!

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys spending time in nature, practicing yoga, staying active, and travelling. Her lifelong passion for health and wellbeing inspires her to help others.

Rebekah has worked across both regional and metropolitan public hospitals over the past years and continues to provide care to patients in the acute hospital setting. She has a keen interest in women’s health, pre / post-pregnancy care and is completing further studies in Women’s Health at The University of Melbourne.
Outside of work, you’ll find her at the local coffee shop hunting down the best pastries in Melbourne. She also loves baking treats for her family and friends, and enjoys playing volleyball and golf.
