This Thursday, presents a special event screening of feature film The End of History, with a live performance by Concentration.

Written and filmed over 8 days during Covid-19 lockdown in Berlin by Zac and Matt from the internationally adored supergroup Concentration. The End of History chronicles the rise and fall of two Aussie desperados as they use (and abuse) any means possible to create the next big thing in Berlin club music.

Fleeing the apathy of drug-laced Berlin, they retreat to a friend’s country house to hunker down, stay straight and access the hidden creative genius that lies in wait like the beast in the jungle.

A hilarious, revolting and deeply concerning joyride through the depths of the delusional artiste’s psyche, The End of History is a small triumph of indie filmmaking.

It’s our last fortnight of Misc Sundays for February, this weekend with a double international headliner - Dutch wunderkind and Dekmantel alum Oceanic (Nous’Klaer Audio) and q***r Latin icon ISAbella (MARICAS), chased with a 3 hour set from local lizard lord Reptant and bass bandit Kate Miller.

For the final weekend it’s the legendary GAG HAIRDRESSING girlies hosting an all-day hard dance soiree.

Every Sunday we’re open 2pm-1am, with free entry and $12 cocktails until 4pm and food on the rooftop from 4-8pm. ☀️

This Friday, Send/Return is back, with two DJs going b2b all night long. Fighting the good fight against the growing trend of 1 hour DJ sets, Send/Return hopes to be a part of the revival of long form sets that give DJs the opportunity to dig deep into their collection, with co-founders Hannah D and Bex taking to the decks.

The pair are forming a tradition in their long form b2bs, which kicked off with their inaugural party in 2022 at Angel Music Bar. Hannah D brings her love of progressive sounds from the 90s and early 2000s to the table, fusing perfectly with Bex’s collection of early 2000s hazy tech house, minimal techno and left field wonky house.

This Saturday, Paper-Cuts returns to Misc for their first show of the year.

This show will be Mike Midnight’s debut live performance. A pillar of the West Coast scene, Michael Gunson aka Mike Midnight has emerged as a shining light in downtempo, trip-hop, illbient and tech house. Featuring on INDEX Records, Theory Therapy, Pure Space and most recently on physical with his debut 12” on Southern Exposure Records taken from the self-released digital EP ‘Angel Hours’ in 2022. Defined by a meticulous approach to composition, production, art direction and presentation of his work, every release encapsulates Mike’s unique vision, connecting threads from early influences such as grime and dubstep right through to more recent explorations.

Tonight is the Secret World x Renegade Solidarity Audio Force Fundraiser
Sound and solidarity are intertwined. There’s an inarguable power to the amplified calls to protest and resistance at recent Free Palestine rallies and at the yearly Invasion Day rallies.

Renegade Solidarity Audio Force are some of the people making the impact of sound at protests that much stronger. They are a collective of volunteer organisers, sound technicians, and DIY freaks that built and developed a mobile soundsystem to signal boost speeches at rallies and play solidarity songs at blockades. This one’s a party with a vital cause, with all proceeds going to support maintenance and upgrades on the RSAF soundsystem.

This Saturday, Renegade Solidarity Audio Force and Secret World team for a special fundraising event.

RSAF is a crew of Activists, Artists, Musicians, Dj’s and Soundsystem Operators who bring the decibels to amplify the voices of resistance. If you’ve been to a rally or picket recently or over the last 5 years, including Invasion Day or the Free Palest1ne rallies, then chances are they were the noise behind the cause. Until now, the RSAF crew have covered the cost of maintenance and upgrades themselves, but to up the decibels, they’re throwing a party in celebration of recent upgrades, and to raise some of the money back. RSAF’s aim is to not be in debt and to get ongoing support through Patreon so that they can continue providing sound to activists and organisers for free.

Time tends to collapse at Techworld. The most consistent party at Misc and one of the most legendary, today’s iteration of the Sandpit Alias and Chaz’s reliable monthly-ish hoon is bringing out Ukraine’s Noizar just for the occasion.

Noizar specialises in freaked-out, twitchy, minimal tech and house, with an incredible ear for deep, rare cuts and precise mixing skills honed from his time as a resident at Kyiv’s legendary ‘Closer’ club. He’s an act that isn’t really “commercially viable” to tour all the way across the world, but Techworld made it happen on sheer will and passion - as they always do.
