Student Visa

1. Visa application Charges increased – Student Visa
From $710 to $1600 (New Fee From 1st July 2024)
2. Visitor Visa Holders and TR 485 Visa holders CAN NOT apply for a Student visa ONSHORE. (VISA Hopping is CLOSED for ONSHORE applicants.)

TR – 485 Visa

3. Maximum Age to apply TR – 485 Visa – 35 years
a. Master (research) a Doctor Degree (PhD) – still 50 Years
4. TR 485 – Graduate Stream is now Post – Vocational Education Stream
5. TR 485 – Post-Study Work Stream is now Post-Higher Education Work Stream
6. Replacement Stream for TR 485 Visa is closed from 1st of July 24.
7. NIL VAC Fee – TR 485 – Extension for Specific Qualifications holders is CLOSED from 1st July 2024.

Subclass 476 Visa

8. Skilled Recognised Graduate (476) Visa – Closed from 1st of July

Subclass 417 – Working Holiday Visa

9. UK Passport Holder – Three Working Holiday Visa will be GRANTED, meeting specific work requirements.
Subclass 462 – Work and Holiday Visa

10. Philippines Passport Holders are included for this visa subclass.

Employer-Sponsored Visa (Subclass 457, TSS 482, ENS 186, RSMS 494 )

11. TSMIT increased to $73150 from 1st July 2024

12. Changes to visa conditions 8107, 8607 and 8608

• Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)
• Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482)
• Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 494)
If you are holding these visas and stop working for your employer, you will have
180 days at a time or
a maximum of 365 days in total across the entire visa grant period
To find a new employer, you can work for any employer and in any occupation during this time.

The new Pacific Engagement visa for Pacific Island and Timor Leste nationals will commence on 3 June 2024.

Up to 3000 visa places, inclusive of partners and dependent children, will be allocated annually through a ballot process.

There is a Great News for Pacific Islanders. The department has introduced a new Visa Subclass 192 – Which is called “Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV)”.

How many seats are allocated each year? Is it a ballot based?

3000 Seats will be allocated each year for this visa subclass. Applications will be selected by an electronic random selection process. (It is ballot-based.) It is expected to start MID 2024.

Which countries are included?

Eligible countries could include the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
The Australian Government continues to consult Pacific countries and Timor-Leste on their interest in participating in the program.

Who is eligible?

• be aged between 18 and 45 to enter the ballot
• be selected through the ballot process
• meet English language, character and health checks
• hold a passport for a participating country
• have been born in or have a parent who was born in an eligible country.
• If in Australia, holding a Substantive visa or BVA, BVB or BVC
• Have a job offer in Australia

Applicants can include a partner and legally dependent children in their application.
Further program settings and details, including ballot and visa eligibility requirements, will be made available closer to the commencement of the program.

Yes, a permanent visa allows you to live, work and study anywhere in Australia.

Changes from 25 November 2023 – Employer Sponsored Visas

Big changes are expected for Employer Sponsored Visas (TSS – Subclass 482 and Subclass 186)

1. You can extend your TSS – Subclass 482 visa (STSOL) onshore more than two times now. Restriction to apply 3rd TSS Visa from Offshore only will be removed. It means NO need to TRAVEL OFFSHORE.

2. Holder of 482 visa, in all streams, will be eligible to apply Permanent Visa (ENS – 186) after Two years instead of three years.

3. Skilled Occupation lists will be removed, and you can be nominated for any occupation from ANZSCO Occupation list.

4. Changed will be made to Age exemption for regional medical practitioner applicants and high-income applicants – PR pathway will also open.

Health Examination – Medical requirement is BACK

Extending or lodging a Visa onshore – in Australia?

Medical Test is now required for Onshore applicants. Be prepared to book the Medical Test with BUPA upon lodging the Visa application ONSHORE.
