We're excited to announce our new EMPNV Chair - Marina Wareing, from Ambulance Victoria ๐
Marina (she/her) has been employed as a paramedic with AV for 11 years, undertaking many roles which have showcased her leadership skills and dedication to the sector, as well as the safety and wellbeing of others.
Marina is a passionate advocate as part of the LGBTIQ+ community. Since 2012 Marina has joined AV at every Midsumma Pride March event, and featured as the AV representative as part of our sector-wide IDAHOBIT video on social media. Marina is currently working alongside her colleagues to roll-out the addition of pronouns to AV name badges and signatures, which she hopes will become standard across the organisation in the near future. Additionally, Marina also informally mentorsโ students at Victoria University, who identify as part of the trans community.
Marina is also a proud advocate for mental health, using her own battle with mental illness to reduce the stigma, shame, and fear that others may experience. Marina believes that her own personal journey has provided her with a real empathy and understanding for those struggling to find their own voice.
Weโre so excited to have Marina on board and as part of our Executive team, to help empower LGBTIQ+ people across the sector and as part of our communities.
Congratulations, Marina!๐
Everyone benefits from achieving reconciliation. We acknowledge the steps that we need to take across the sector and our communities, to acknowledge the rich culture, history, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Together, we can be brave and make a REAL change. ๐ค

This long weekend, we hope everyone takes extra care on our roads. If you feel tired, make sure you pull over and take a break ๐โ๏ธ
This Easter, VICSES and Lions Club volunteers will be serving tea, coffee and biscuits at Driver Reviver sites; giving weary drivers a chance to stop and refresh.
With 17% of road fatalities in the last year thought to have been caused by fatigue, it is critical to be well rested before leaving on a long trip.
Plan a stop at least every 2 hours.
Most of all: donโt wait if you are getting tired, find somewhere safe to pull over and have a quick nap.
With so many Driver Reviver sites around the state this Easter, plan your rest stop today before you get underway.
