Aussies are more scam aware than this time last year, with 70% ignoring suspicious calls and deleting bogus looking emails according to new NAB insights out today. 💪🕵

Forty percent of people had been contacted by their bank about a potential scam payment in the past year. Of them, 75% took some kind of action to prevent losing money.

It comes as NAB expands its digital payment alerts to target invoice and romance scams and increases its ability to prevent suspicious payments in real time.

Can you spot the red flags of a bank impersonation scam in this real life phone call that a NAB customer received?

Ray, a NAB customer, spotted red flags when a man claiming to be from NAB calling from an unknown number demanded he click a link in a dodgy text message.

Ray’s response? “No, mate, I’m not going to do it until I speak to somebody from NAB that I actually call.”

Criminals are preying on Aussies’ FOMO and trying to sell fake tickets on social media.

Red flags to keep your eyes open for include:

🚩Tickets that are heavily discounted or cheaper than retail price.

🚩A seller claiming they can prove tickets are legit, by sending you emails or screenshot.

🚩A seller wanting you to pay for tickets via cryptocurrency or direct money transfer.
