Walk up to people, have a virtual picnic, play games and chat to others!!
Join here: https://gather.town/app/6f4Si0rUaGTT5Cik/Intercol%20Pride
Hereβs a video tutorial made by our wonderful treasurer, Rachel: https://youtu.be/VdalOHfmRnA
Gather Gather is a video-calling space that lets multiple people hold separate conversations in parallel, walking in and out of those conversations just as easily as they would in real life.
Today, Monday 17th May, is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia, or IDAHOBIT day for short. On this day we celebrate the diversity of gender and sexuality because the q***r community has been a group that has suffered from violence for several years. 31 years ago today, the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. This was a huge step forward in the way that people viewed those that are sexually or gender diverse. While we have made so much progress, there is still a need to combat discrimination.
Check in with your q***r friends, not just today but regularly. Homophobia, biphobia, intersexim and transphobia can occur anywhere. Sexuality and gender identity arenβt always visible so creating a culture where everyone fells safe is so important.
Check out the IDAHOBIT website https://www.idahobit.org.au/ and Minus 18 has heaps of other great resources as well!!
