Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia or IDAHOBIT! Today, Monday 17th May, is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia, or IDAHOBIT day for short. On this day we celebrate the diversity of gender and sexuality because the q***r community has been a group that has suffered from violence for several years. 31 years ago today, the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. This was a huge step forward in the way that people viewed those that are sexually or gender diverse. While we have made so much progress, there is still a need to combat discrimination.

Check in with your q***r friends, not just today but regularly. Homophobia, biphobia, intersexim and transphobia can occur anywhere. Sexuality and gender identity aren’t always visible so creating a culture where everyone fells safe is so important.

Check out the IDAHOBIT website https://www.idahobit.org.au/ and Minus 18 has heaps of other great resources as well!!

Midsumma Festival means it's Pride March time in Melbourne! And while the past couple of years we've marched with about 1,000 of you, this year we have seriously limited spots due to Covid restrictions.

To make it as fair as possible, here's how it's going to work:
πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Confident you'll be able to march on Sun 23 May? Enter the ballot!
πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Register by yourself, or yourself + a friend!
πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ We'll choose about 50 of you at random on Wednesday 12 May. Boom! We'll let you know via email.

Note: this is for young people aged 12 to 19 ONLY. No parents please – we'll have loads of youth workers there to support our Minus18 marchers!

If you miss out on a spot, you'll still be able to attend Pride march and cheer from the sidelines – it's an amazing, public event. Sign up now: https://bit.ly/3eS2xc0
