Today is International Women's Day, an opportunity to pause and reflect on what we have achieved as women and what challenges lie ahead of us. It was a great pleasure to be invited as a key note speaker in the Federation University's celebrations for the day. My co-speaker was the CEO of the St John of God Berwick Hospital, Ms Lisa Norman.
Together we shared our journeys as working women with students and staff of the university. There was a very heart warming interaction with the audience after the talk, the topics raised and questions asked spanned a whole range of issues, from challenges at work place to motherhood and domestic violence.
It was wonderful to step out of medicine for an afternoon and connect with so many amazing women, to inspire and be inspired.

I performed a few hysteroscopies today in the operating theatre. A Hysteroscopy is one of the most common minor procedures in Gynecology. It's done to examine the inside of the uterus and involes inserting a thin and long camera wich displays image on a screen.
Hysteroscopy is used to detect and remove polyps, fibroids, embedded IUDs, for endometrial biopsy and for endometrial ablation.
Its a day procedure done under general anesthsia. There is no incision or stitches and one can return to full activity next day.
