We have had our EMILY’s List door knocking volunteers hitting the pavement in Alice Springs for Allison Bitar: Labor for Braitling and Sheralee Taylor - Labor for Namatjira we are so proud of you sisters 💜💜💪💪

We know that the first five years of a child’s life are critical in their development, and early education is part of the building blocks that set children up for a positive future.

Doubling free preschool hours for four-year-olds will help form those foundations and also save young families thousands of dollars a year. It’s also critically important in helping more parents, particularly women, back into the workforce.

Our Positive Preschool Plan gives young Territorians get the best start in life.

I will not shy away from believing that Women should have the right to make their own decisions about their health, their wellbeing and all matters that relate to their body.

I will also not shy away from believing that ALL Territorians should have the right to love, regardless of their colour or sexuality.

This flyer letterboxed to Blain constituents clearly states that both the CLP and the Independent candidates believe that people should NOT have the right to love and should NOT have the right to make their own decisions about their body.

The CLP may well have committed to legislative changes around Women’s reproductive rights (publicly spoken about by the Australian Christian Lobby) and changing the Anti-Discrimination Act to allow HATE speech toward anyone whose sexuality does not suit the Australian Christian Lobby’s views.

What other rights do the CLP want to remove from us?? Note that the CLP have not provided a position on Voluntary Assisted Dying - a RIGHT I believe we should have.

Rights are hard fought for and I am proud to be part of a Government that continues to strive to make a fairer community for all.

I have been asked and reconfirm my positions of support for Voluntary Assisted Dying and Reproductive Health Rights.

These are issues members of our community have spoken to me about over the years, and it is concerning to hear that the CLP may well have committed to legislative changes around reproductive rights (publicly spoken about by the Australian Christian Lobby). This is an issue about protecting women’s rights to make choices about their health and wellbeing with appropriate health providers, and makes you question what else they are intending to roll back.

Rights are hard fought for, and I’m proud to be part of a Government that continues to strive to make a fairer community for all.

I’m a positive person AND I need to speak up for the young women in our community. I see real risk here to Women’s rights.

The gains we have made here in Queensland under a Labor government for women’s reproductive rights, women’s healthcare, women’s access to essential medicines and women’s safety cannot be taken for granted.

Absolutely lost for words. Heartbroken that this fierce, inspirational and beautiful woman has passed away.

We send our deepest condolences to Sarah Carter’s family and friends. A huge loss for those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Council is tonight shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Councillor and former Mayor Sarah Carter.

Councillor Carter was a trusted and valued colleague and her passing is an enormous loss to our community who she has worked tirelessly to support over her 16 years on Council.

Maribyrnong’s first three-time female Mayor, councillor Carter was only the second Mayor in our municipality’s history to achieve Emeritus status – the highest recognition for distinguished service in local government leadership.

We extend our deepest condolences to Cr Carter’s partner, family, friends, and all who knew and worked alongside her.

She will be greatly missed.

Yesterday, the extraordinary Honourable Fran Bladel, who passed away last year, was recognised in the Tasmanian Parliament for her significant contribution to Tasmania and women.

Fran was a founding member of EMILY’s List, paving the way for countless women to get elected. She was an inspiration and a mentor and relentless in her support and encouragement of women in Parliament.

Her family generously gifted a stunning portrait of Fran to the Tasmanian Parliament.
