And that’s a wrap! It’s been fun, hard, special, a drag, a pleasure, a challenge, a blessing! SROAD was always going to be a short term project and we’re so proud to have made something bigger than ourselves and seen it through. Thank you for your support on IG/socials - the word of mouth, small interactions (likes/comments/shares/DMs) made a huge impact with visibility but also felt like a hug from friends some times. If you have friends, family, acquaintances who are small business owners, we’d encourage supporting them like this to keep that spark and support going! Best wishes to our clients, followers and associates 💙
Improving a work space with ergonomics is a great way to help reduce work-related aches, pains and injuries. Our osteopath can assess work stations and provide individualized advice aiming to improve a workplace. Expensive equipment or modifications are not always necessary and pain can sometimes be relieved or prevented using adjustments to your workspace & habits.
An oldie but a goodie. Ye olde massage. Before becoming an osteopathy, Dr Dave worked as a remedial massage therapist & myotherapist which means he has a good understanding of when massage is needed and often uses it, alongside other tools of the trade, in helping muscles and joints to behave better.
You gotta have a good understanding of biomechanics, physiology & anatomy to get this done right 👌 It's simple but can be very effective in "increasing the range of motion in a restricted joint or muscle". That's the very, very simplified description that Dave just gave to this dear writer about this technique. Other words he used included "golgi", "organ??", "spindles", "lengthening" "fibers" which were strung together in a way that sounded very complex, very gross, very impressive 😂
That's what I'm talkin' about 🤘🥰 One of the many ways we can reduce stiffness of joints, increase range of motion & decrease pain
More and more osteopaths are using dry needling in their practice. It's so good for releasing those 'knots' or 'trigger points' in your muscles 🎯👋
Traction, mobilisation, rhythmic techniques, muscle energy techniques. Ahhh, articulation. There are so many ways to help manage musculoskeletal conditions. How wonderful that there are dedicated professionals out there who know which technique to pick for different people 🥰
According to the osteopathic philosophy, when the body’s musculoskeletal system is not properly aligned, it inhibits circulatory, lymphatic or nervous system function and therefore reduces the body’s ability to heal itself.
Words above from https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/conditionsandtreatments/osteopathy
Dr David loves exercise enough for the both of us here 😅 Having worked in a sporting club and years of weight lifting and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu behind him, not to mention almost daily research on new exercise programs on top of his osteopathy studies and training, he can offer individualized exercise advice to kids, teens, adults & the elderly! Exercise is huge for health and we'll never stop talking about it!!! How do you like to move your body?
Dietitian appointments are now being held on Thursdays via Telehealth. Why telehealth? Well, we're a small almost speak-easy-like practice you could say - tucked away inside a lovely dental clinic. One room between two practitioners. So we save room access for osteopathy. Also, talking is a big part of dietetic appointments. I mean, we talk about food. And food is everything! So we spend a lot of time talking about it. They're not appointments where you'll receive hands on therapy and fact sheets can be easily posted/emailed. Appointments are done in the comfort of home, in a back yard, maybe in the sunshine or in the kitchen. Clients can easily pull foods/drinks out of their pantry/fridge/bedside table 😉 to get answers on the spot. Video calls are always preferred - I like to see faces!! However, phone calls are always doable. Of course, we can try and accomodate for a face-to-face session if necessary.
Period pain, asthma symptoms, pregnancy-related pain, oh my! Osteopathy can help manage musculoskeletal symptoms associated with these conditions.
"Ohhhhh! Big stretch!" Does anybody remember that post years back saying to stretch after waking up or sitting down like animals do? Great advice. Stretching is grrrreaattt! Aaaand if you haven’t done it near enough, your friendly neighbourhood osteopath might need to do it for you 😅
There's *a lot* of emotion held in our bodies. Hands-on therapy can help release the tension, of course. But osteopaths can also provide relaxation techniques or body awareness sessions, which show you how to move your body in gentler ways. If there's a fair bit of emotions pent up, osteopaths can suggest an additional service or health care professional to explore these emotions 💆♀️
Online bookings open are open as always ☺️✌️
Let’s face it – most of us at some point in our lives have found it difficult to get into shape and feel great. We often feel pulled in all directions between work, family, friends, so it seems impossible to eat right and exercise enough to see the progress we desire. Plus, add in one of the coldest Winters in Melbourne, and the motivation plummets! Don’t worry, you’re not alone. I also felt this way when I started my health and fitness journey (see attached link to my story)
http://bodyscapehealthandfitness.com.au/2018/02/05/hello-world/
And so many fitness professionals want us to believe that you can undo years of unhelpful eating and inactivity with a quick fix. But your health and fitness journey has to be something that you truly and honestly commit to for the long haul. So many Bodyscape clients have done just that – take a look at the latest results from Ms C and others - amazing!

With lots of people staying home because they don't feel well, we've noticed a rise in rescheduled appointments. This is a great opportunity for others to squeeze in a last minute appointment for any aches and pains. If you'd like to book an osteopathy appointment, you can contact us on 0476 919 312 anytime, email [email protected] or book online at www.sroad.com.au
Our Accredited Practising Dietitian, Pearl, is still seeing clients regularly via Telehealth. Before making an appointment going forward, please note:
- Saturday bookings are now available.
- You can now book online at www.sroad.com.au. This is the quickest way to secure an appointment.
- All bookings are telehealth unless there is a medical condition where a face-to-face consult is indicated (i.e. clients who are hard of hearing).
- There is now a $10.50 gap payment for clients with an EPC. Due to the nature of dietetic consultations, we can no longer offer bulk-billed sessions. We have made the gap fee as low as possible to keep this service accessible.
- As of Monday 11th April there will be a fee increase for initial and review consultations. An initial consultation will now cost $120.00 and reviews will be $80.00.
Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to you!
Today is our last working day for the year!
We’ll reopen from January 10th, 2022!
Please note that we won’t be taking bookings or enquiries during the break but we can’t wait to welcome you back into the clinic in 2022! 🥂
We’re here for you if you need us! Did you know that you can still see your osteopath during the lockdown if:
- The absence or delay of care would result in a worsening in your condition.
- Your injury or condition is significantly impacting your ability to do basic activities of daily living (such as work, exercising, focusing on a task, walking, sitting, dressing, etc).
- By seeking osteopathy care, you would be avoiding seeking another service within the healthcare system that is currently overwhelmed due to COVID-19 (for example, multiple GP visits/an emergency room visit).
You do not have to put up with pain over this time.
If you need further clarification of the three reasons above, please contact our practice on 0476 919 312.
Please note that dietitian appointments are still being run via Telehealth only.
We understand that this is a difficult and challenging time for everyone and want to let you know that we're here for our clients, friends and family. If you feel like your mental health is being impacted by the lockdown, please speak to your GP. The ‘Head to Health’ website might also help: https://bit.ly/36F6tcz.
Are you (or someone you know!) a diabetes educator, osteopath, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, psychologist, counsellor, podiatrist or naturopath? Or maybe something else that we missed?
We're looking for health professionals to either join our team or share our space for 1-2 days a week.
If you're interested, please send an email to [email protected] or give us a call on 0476 919 312 to discuss further ☺️
Trying to break David away from work — not going to happen! He loves what he does tooooo much! David has worked in the industry for almost 10 years - as a remedial massage therapist, myotherapist and osteopath. He’s had experience in the sport, private and corporate sectors and absolutely loves being an osteopath.
David can help with a range of issues like headaches (his favourite to work on), neck and back pain, arthritis, sciatica, repetitive strain and overuse injuries (think pain from sitting at a desk too long or using the same part of your body over and over again), pregnancy-related discomfort (another one of his favourites!), tendonitis, tennis elbow, various sports injuries and more.
David can help relieve your pain with hands-on treatment and also educate you on how to reduce it from happening again. You might only need to see him one time or a few times depending on your needs.
You can book with David online at www.sroad.com.au or call/text our friendly team on 0476 919 312.

Have you ever seen a dietitian before? You may be surprised at the advice provided by dietitians as there is so much misinformation out there about nutrition (it's crazy)!
Dietitians are qualified professionals with the skills to provide expert nutrition and dietary advice. They translate the latest scientific information into practical, tailored dietary advice.
Dietitians can help people living with conditions like diabetes, heart disease, gout, inflammatory bowel disease, hypo- or hyper- thyroidism, fussy eating in children, malnutrition and more.
Our dietitian Pearl focuses connecting a clients' personal goals to their health and wellbeing. Advice is tailored to your own food preferences, nutritional needs and health condition.
Pearl has a particular interest in improving the nutritional status of people with malnutrition - especially the elderly population - however is experienced with a range of health conditions.
Pearl always aims to make clients feel safe and supported in consultations and can adapt nutrition assessments and advice based on the needs and comfort of each individual client.
Right now under the advice from the Chief Health Officer, dietetic consultations are being run via Telehealth only (phone/video calls). However if a face-to-face appointment is clinically indicated, in-clinic consults can occur.
To book a time with our dietitian Pearl, head to our website www.sroad.com.au or call/text 0476 919 312 🙂

Yesterday I heard a senior medical figure talking about how “overweight and obese” people are a serious problem, all the usual rhetoric, and he repeated those “o” words several times, no doubt making anyone with a BMI over 25 (so most people) feel bad about themselves. Many people listening would have felt significant shame, which in itself damages health and generally does nothing to motivate a person to change.
All the evidence for higher weights and ill health is association or correlation, not causation. Very often higher weights are a symptom of an underlying condition, such as insulin resistance, chronic stress, medications, mental health issues and *the social conditions in which people are born and live etc - or combination of any/all of these.
We need to stop putting the emphasis on a person’s weight as the problem and instead look at each of these underlying causes. But if course it’s much simpler to blame the individual than to fight for social justice and equality. Trillions are being made from treating symptoms rather than addressing underlying causes - just think antidepressants and medications for insulin resistance and T2 diabetes.
*”According to WHO, the social conditions in which people are born, live and work is the single most important determinant of good health or ill health.”

The BMI is not just tool that doesn’t work well - it harms people’s health!
When a child is made to feel their body is wrong, ie “too big”, this can lead to a lifetime of yoyo dieting, body shame, disordered eating and for some, a full blown eating disorder.
Nobody wants this for their child, but it has been happening for years and will not stop any time soon as long as we keep talking about “overweight and obesity” as a major public health issue
Hey look it’s us! Way back on January 28th 2020! We opened our company in early February 2020 - a couple of weeks before the restrictions really hit us in Melbourne. Our opening year was so tough but we’re so proud that we managed to stick it out, adapt and carry on! Just wanted to say a huge huge huge thank you to our family, friends, clients and the businesses around us who have been amazing in supporting our little clinic! We love what we do and can’t wait to resume regular programming this week. We really need to get more photos of us but until then here’s a sweet one from when our signage went up 🥰🤗
