May was a month of two halves for equity and bond markets.
Rob Hogg, SGH's Chief Investment Officer, provided a market updateand talked about May being 'a month of two halves'.
In the first half of the month, equity and bond prices rose (bond yields fell), but the second half of the month witnessed a turnaround, taking many equity markets lower from record intra-month highs.
Not to mention, the oscillating sentiment regarding the outlook for potential central bank rate cuts (or increases) continued to cause gyrations in markets.
