The food we chose was absolutely delicious, prawns, roasted shoulder of beef, Persian meatballs, the potatoes are to die for - it was made with care and so authentic. The wine 💗 Atmosphere was great, perfect lighting, comfortable seating - bathrooms are too cool with their fixtures 😂. My son and I were beautifully looked after for a catch up meal - I work in a Melbourne once a month and we will definately return for wholesome food and service and a great vibe."

We recently had the privilege of hosting - a not-for-profit dedicated to supporting children, young people and families in need. This special dinner event was held in September 2024, a night honouring their amazing foster carer volunteers who give so much, including a special celebration to celebrate one household achieving 40 years of fostering.

It was a wonderful evening serving close to 50 guests, including a few special dietary requests, ensuring everyone could enjoy the meal comfortably. We’re proud to be part of a community that cares for the most vulnerable, and grateful to Berry Street for the incredible work they do every day to create brighter futures.

“This version of a classic Lebanese milk pudding normally set with cornflour (cornstarch) is a rip off of Rita Macali’s chocolate panna cotta. When working at Ladro as the prep chef before opening Rumi, I would occasionally sneak one of these for breakfast. Rita served it with raspberries. We serve it with barberries and pomegranate molasses. We also serve it in a glass with a couple of biscuits, darling.” - Joseph Abboud.

Back at the end of August 2024, Rumi hosted a social gathering for the Inner Northern Local Learning and Employment Network (INLLEN) volunteer mentors. The event brought together 16 guests for an evening of camaraderie, delicious food, and warm hospitality. This event was a part of INLLEN's efforts to celebrate and appreciate their volunteer mentors who play a vital role in supporting local students.

The event took place in Rumi's private dining room, which was set up to create a warm and inviting atmosphere conducive to conversation and connection. The ambiance of the room was praised by the attendees, with one notable observation being the absence of mobile phones on the table - a testament to the engaging environment that we provided. The guests praised the food, with many commenting on how delicious every dish was, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the evening.

“This is a dish that I can’t believe is not more commonplace. It is basically a chicken version of the classic Lebanese baked fish dish, samke harra. In this recipe the chicken is smothered in Taratoor and finished with various nuts, parsley and chilli.
