What an honour it was to have received this award from last week's Awards.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

David Field from the Merchant Navy War Memorial Fund flew into Melbourne to present the award (and a replacement bottle of champagne!) on Monday just gone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This award is a culmination of 8 years hard work (5 times nominated!) and never giving up. Motivation is a very personal (and sometimes weird thing) and this award was a carrot that drove me to reach higher and seek further challenges to be worthy of it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am so proud of what I have achieved in this industry to date, and also the way in which I have achieved it. Every day you engage with the world is another opportunity to demonstrate your values. Whether to yourself, your peers, or if you are able to be in a leadership position, to those you can influence. I try to live everyday with values of inclusion, honesty, equality and curiosity and learning. 2020 especially drove home the need to for compassion, kindness and inclusion. Whilst I may be at the front line of inclusion through WISTA Australia I continually seek to learn more about my own prejudices, internal biases and seek out viewpoints from my own and then simply....listen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I plan to use this win to inspire and motivate, not only myself when I have moments of doubt but to also demonstrate that consistency, passion and grit will always leave you in a good stead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
