🚨 Local Government Authorities (LGAs) in rural and regional Victoria have the opportunity to apply for the Victorian Government's Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund investment program.
With Australian rules football growing and the demand for well-positioned, welcoming, accessible, fit-for-purpose football facilities in communities across Victoria increasing, programs like this one can play an important role in supporting and promoting footy participation.

Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund Applicants to the All Abilities Infrastructure stream may also apply for a grant of up to $50,000 for All Abilities Participation Initiative funding to conduct participation programs for people with a disability at funded facilities.
Ajang Kuol mun was born in a Kenyan refugee camp. His brother never made it out. His family fled his wartorn homeland of South Sudan for Australia in 2007.
After crossing from soccer and producing a stellar first season of senior local football for Anakie Football & Netball Club in the Geelong & District Football Netball League, Ajang is now training with Geelong's Victorian Football League (VFL) side.

As the year comes to a close, a really good story from country footy in Vic with Yea Tigers seniors bouncing back from recess and set to return in 2024.

The WRFL is excited to launch the Women & Girls Umpire Academy in January 2024.
This free academy will be held at Saltwater Reserve, Point Cook, to be led by AFLW Boundary Umpire & 2023 AFLW Umpiring Rising Star winner Melissa Sambrooks. All Women and Girls over the age of 12 are invited to join and participate in this wonderful opportunity. There will be five sessions during the season, comprising umpiring and leadership activities, along with special guest speakers.

For every player who makes it to the AFL, there have been on average more than 30 volunteer roles, over 400 people in those roles and more than 10,000 volunteer hours impact the player and help them through their football journey.
77 young men realised their dreams by finding homes on AFL lists for the first time this week and all of these players have a story on how they made it. For most, their journey in football started at their local Auskick centre or junior club, where volunteers are the heartbeat of the game.

Vic Metro made it back-to-back Toyota Wheelchair AFL National Championships for the 'Big V' with an emphatic 57-point win over WA in the final of the 2023 event in Melbourne on Sunday.
James Weinert won the Kevin Faulkner Medal as the best player in the final. Congratulations to all involved in the win and everyone who was part of the four-day carnival, a magnificent showcase of wheelchair footy.

🚨 ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 The AFL is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Madigan to the role of Head of AFL Victoria.
Madigan brings extensive commercial leadership experience to the role and has a long association with Australian rules football, including as a 1989 Hawthorn premiership player, as well as a participant, volunteer and parent at community footy level.
As Head of AFL Victoria, Madigan will be responsible for leading community football, participation programs, partnerships and facilities in the football heartland state which in 2023 had more than 176,000 registered participants playing junior and senior club football, over 41,000 NAB AFL Auskickers, 12,000 coaches, 7,500 umpires and tens of thousands of volunteers involved in the game.

The 2023 Toyota Wheelchair AFL National Champs start in Melbourne this Thurs 2 Nov, with champions to be crowned on Sunday at the State Netball & Hockey Centre in Parkville.
Western Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan will be joined by fellow AFL stars Toby Green and Darcy Moore in the All-Stars game on Sun at 12:20pm, followed by the Div 1 Final at 3pm.

More than 250 Victorian community footy and netball clubs are sharing in $600,000 of funding as part of the 2023 Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Club Rewards program, the highest number of recipients in the program’s five years.
The program encourages clubs to engage with players, members and their communities on key road safety issues and promote safe behaviours, with the dangers of distracted driving a key focus of this year’s campaign.
