A happy week 9 dear members. Congrats on making it this far!
I know that MIRS has been inactive for this semester so far and it is because of some admin reasons which we are hoping to sort out.

To do so, we are hosting an SGM where we will be ratifying our AGM from last semester, and welcoming the committee members elected then. Hence we expect it to be a very short meeting. We will be holding the Special General Meeting (SGM) on the 8th of May, 4 pm onward on Zoom.

General 6 — MIRS 30/10/2022

Hey MIRS Members!

After months of vigorous hard work, it is finally over....our publication has a new issue! This is the third issue of Melbourne International Relations Review, in which undergraduate and postgraduate students are able to submit their essays and get them published.

This year's theme was...
A Divided World: Polarisation In The 21st Century

The theme is described below:
As we move further into the 21st Century, it seems the world is only becoming increasingly divided. With a seeming shift to a multipolar world order, and increasingly pronounced divides along political lines, this age presents unique challenges. Social, cultural and moral divides erecting in a fractured world. How will a shift in power paradigm impact international relations? How will international and domestic politics adapt to these challenges? Will international relations fundamentally change? How will we be able to confront this age’s challenges if we are not united? This theme provides room for exploration of how we have and will continue to face the unique problems which underpin the 21st century. Great power politics, justice and security, global dynamics, and divides along political lines are examples of issues that could be explored. Further, social, cultural and moral divides can be explored as well- in a multi-disciplinary approach.

First, we would love to thank our editors for their enduring commitment and hard work:
Nikhita Thanasan
Sam Warner
Hayley Marsh
Joel Duggan
Ardan Derin Gül
Emre Dogru

Second, a special thanks to Anushree Gupta for being a passionate, kind and patient president who oversaw the publication.

Third, we would also like to thank everyone who submitted their pieces and allowed our wonderful team to edit them. We have had really insightful pieces on pertinent issues, addressing relevant academic questions in the International Relations field.

The publication can be found on our website at the link below:
https://mirsociety.squarespace.com/mirr

It can be found under 'Edition 3'. Scroll down on the webpage to access it.

With that, MIRS will be coming back next year, with a new committee and bigger than ever!
