Shawn Nikookar from STEXEN Solutions gave this week's BNI City Business educational presentation, during which he shared great advice on how to enhance your presentations.

Shawn highlighted three key points in this brief presentation that have the potential to significantly improve the impact of any presentation. These points are as follows:

1️⃣ Leaving your mark for recognition

Shawn emphasised the importance of making oneself easily identifiable. A crucial aspect of this is to incorporate your business brand consistently throughout your presentation. This entails including important information like your company name, URL, and logo on every slide.

This allows your audience to quickly identify the source of the presentation, even if they come across a stray image or event photo. This simple yet effective step could lead to valuable connections and opportunities.

It is also critical to provide this information in sufficient size and contrast so that the audience is not distracted from the main content on the slides.

2️⃣ Simplify and captivate your content:

According to research, the optimal number of elements for the brain to focus on ranges between 5 and 9, also known as the "magic number 7 plus/minus 2." To take advantage of this, the content on each slide is concise and impactful.

Instead of bombarding the audience with information, focus on delivering one main message per slide. While this may increase the number of slides, the key is to manage time effectively and keep the audience engaged.

This method ensures that your message is effectively absorbed without taxing the audience's cognitive abilities.

3️⃣ You are the presentation:

Shawn emphasised that the presenter, rather than the slides, is the main focus of the presentation.

The slides should be used to supplement rather than replace your presence. Attendees were encouraged to be bold and captivating while actively engaging the audience's attention.

The essence of a presentation lies in the story you share and how you deliver your message. Building a strong connection with the audience is essential for making a lasting impression, which may lead to new clients and opportunities.
