So, you’re thinking about showcasing your hard work and strength at Trans Takeover 3.0?
Now is the time to begin getting your ducks in a row to give you the best opportunity to be prepared come game day 🦆🦆🦆
For some of you this will mean beginning to kit out your gym bag, investigating which equipment to purchase if you’re looking to take your performance to the highest level you can, and entering the early stages of prep training to get your body and mind locked in for the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the day.
Training for an event like TTO can range from intense focus for 16 weeks for some athletes, and a specific but relatively mild 10 week effort for others.
Both are correct 🙌
Keep an eye on our socials, and over the next few months we’ll be announcing seminars and workshops designed to help YOU learn the skills to get ready for TTO 3.

What even is gains?
Have I been making any??
Training requires a diverse range of skills, and as a result it means that progress can look very different throughout our respective journeys.
⬇️⬇️⬇️
The most classic examples of progress relate to how strong we are or how much our appearance has changed, but what if we told you there are so many more examples of progress that can go unnoticed at times🐤
For our strength to increase, or aesthetic to change it requires a lot of consistency over a long period of time in many different habits. Maybe you’re not getting stronger during a certain period of time, but have maybe you've maintained better sleep hygiene for more days each week than usual, or have you been generally finding it easier to get to the gym to begin with?
There are other examples of progress, too.
Like finding training to be more fun, or having a greater appreciation for how valuable your training is to you. Learning to take time away from training can be an area of progress, also. No one can always be training hard and pushing the limits all the time. Everyone needs to de-prioritise training in order to re-energise but that can be an enormous challenge, and learning to relax into those periods and find the value in them is an important part of the many realms of progress 🙌
Training is a lifestyle. It impacts every facet of our existence one way or another, and to different degrees for us all. There is no singular channel of progress, it is not linear, and each channel influences the others, so just because your strength or aesthetic hasn’t changed it does not mean you haven’t been gradually moving closer to those goals by subconsciously or consciously progressing in the more subtle channels that impact the larger goals.
Progress is not what mainstream media has told us it is.
Read that again sweets.
If you are giving it an honest effort, you are making progress. If you want to boost your progress, reach out for guidance.

📣 Not all movement gets you gains 📣
When you have a goal in mind for what you want to achieve with your body it’s important to understand that not just any kind of movement will help you get there.
The human body is profoundly adaptable and can be trained to do almost anything you could think of. Whether that be endurance rock climbing, building the strongest or fittest body you can, or training to manage chronic pain, the human body can adapt to all of it.
But each goal has its own specific training👏
YES, almost any style of movement will have a spectrum of benefits relevant to many goals. But what is most relevant to you right now?
Do you want to build muscle?
Focus your energy on compound movements with DBs, BBs, and some machines 🏋♀️
Are you strong asf but want to increase your mobility?
Add a yoga session into your training even if you have to reduce your strength training to fit it in 🤸♀️
Do you have chronic pain you want to manage?
Find out why you’re in pain. Will increasing your general strength help, or do you need to focus on a particular area that has been injured 🤕
Human movement is an immensely broad spectrum and not all of it will be relevant to your goals.
Strength training is not the best way to increase your cardio fitness.
Yoga is not the best way to increase your overall strength.
And sit ups are not how you build “core” strength.
Take a moment. What do you want?

🍉 Bukjeh 🍉
Bukjeh is the only Palestinian-led arts organisation in Australia. The artist initiative is sharing the stories of the lives of families in Palestine, trying to honour their memory and gain support for Fal3stin3 across the globe.

Lifting in pain sucks right….
Especially when moving is so important to many of us
But does that mean we need to just TOTALLY stop training and not move again until we feel 100%?
Not necessarily
Instead of just completely stopping everything you are doing, pain can be a valuable tool to help us understand what is happening and to help us, help you navigate a solution.
Now, we are not saying that we want you to be in pain 24/7 and just get on with it…… not a vibe.
It’s all about how do we manage this!
Here are a few initial areas that we look at when our members come to us in pain (in no particular order):
Overall Workload: How much training/everyday movement overall does this cutie do?
Pace: Are you jumping up into complexity/weights too quickly sweets?
Deload: Does the pain reduce or disappear when we take a few plates off the bar? Do we need to pull off some volume (i.e. sets/reps) - from a particular muscle group or exercise?
Recovery: What is your life like outside the gym? Poor sleep, limited mobility, mental health had better days, stress at work? Yes, all of this impacts the body and yes the body does leave signs.
Positioning: Adjusting your stance, positioning, grip - better/worse?
Lifting Homework: Have we been doing our physio/Osteo homework?
Exercise Selection: Is this movement supporting sustainable training for you or is it just causing you to not recover?
When: Does it hurt during the set or does it come in later that night?
Pain is not the end my friends and we are here to help you through it ❤️

Team Training Summer Timetable is up and running Folks ☀️
What does it mean? 🤔
Well….. these are the session times that we will be initially running within our new space from the 29th of January.
What style of Sessions are these? 🤔
Team Training is built leading from a general strength program framework.
In these sessions, where we work through movements such as Squats, Bench Press, Deadlifts, and Shoulder Press but basically, we learn to lift heavy s**t safely at a pace that suits your body, in a space filled with G**Y bangers and lots of love & laughs. All programming is created by our qualified T Gen coaching team as we aim to create balance, strength and body autonomy with each session.

Conditioning is more of the huffy puffy work, designed for general heart health and cardiovascular development ❤️🔥 Helps us all not be out of breath as much aye and much much easier with a friend 😮💨

When we moved into 2.0, we remember how nervous and excited we were. The anxiety was REAL!
We started in a warehouse with a dream and a few coins to rub together and NO idea how to make it happen.
Through hard work, community belief in us and more Google searches than we care to admit (lol), we took from 1.0 to 2.0 on Lygon St in Brunny in 2021. We only lasted 4 months in our first space #1.0 (more on that later)
The speed of the world and the numerous necessary calls to action do not allow us to stop and reflect on how far our respective journeys have taken us sometimes.
So here are a few cute snapshots from our start at 2.0 when we were still finding our feet (aren’t we always).
Humans tend to overestimate what we can do in a year but underestimate what we can do over 5 years. We are so proud of our teamtgem fam 🙂

When is enough, enough??
For most of our training beyond the initial few weeks/months we want the last 1-3 reps of each set to noticeably slow down. This is a good guide to make sure our training is hard enough to stimulate growth 🙌
But there’s only so much work each muscle can do in any given session before its reached a point of fatigue that stops us from having enough intensity to encourage the muscle to grow 🤌
A great way to ensure we have the best chance of stimulating the muscle enough to grow without pushing it into tremendous levels of fatigue is by spreading the exercises for each muscle group out over the week
For example☝️; a 3 day program could have a main lift for each day, plus the accessory movements for a different main lift. This could look like:
Mon: Squat w/ upper body pull movements
Thur: Bench Press w/ lower body pull movements
Sat: Deadlift w/ upper body press movements
By spreading the workload throughout the week it allows us to hit each exercise with intensity because we aren’t fatiguing the muscle from the main lift and then torturing it with 5 more exercises. It also means the body can do smaller and more frequent recoveries that don’t have us totally exhausted and wincing on our rest days🥹
There are many different methods of spreading the workload across the week, this is a simple and effective way that works for beginners through to elite lifters
Have you written your own program?
Are all your pressing movements on the same day🤔
Try shifting them around a little so each day has a main lift followed by smaller movements for another body part
It doesn’t have to be perfect. Try it and see how it feels
