NAIDOC Week, held in the first full week of July each year, is a time to celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
From July 7th to July 14th, 2024, this year's theme of 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud' calls for all Australians to celebrate the unyielding spirit of Indigenous communities.
It's an invitation to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations to foster a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.

Cover artwork acknowledgement: Louise Numina, Bush Medicine Leaves (proudly displayed in HEAL's Melbourne office foyer). Louise paints her Dreaming story, the leaves of the Bush Medicine Plant. This particular plant refers to a species of acacia, which is used as part of traditional indigenous healing. Women collect leaves from this plant and boil them to extract the resin. The resin is then mixed with kangaroo fat, which results in a paste. This paste is used to heal bites, wounds, cuts and rashes and can also be used as an insect repellent. The leaves from the plant can also be brewed to make tea and can be used to alleviate symptoms of the common flu.

The scenarios reflected everyday clinical situations, providing valuable insights into areas where candidates need to improve to increase their chances of passing. Having examiners as the patients made the feedback very constructive. Don't miss the opportunity to try it!"

What benefits are there in enrolling in a HEAL course?
The main benefit is our many years of experience in health education. HEAL is a not-for-profit organisation that has been around since 1920, first as VMPF and now HEAL. For the past 30 years, we have been providing clinical bridging courses to international medical graduates.
We believe we have the best tutors. Our tutors are all trained in educational principles and conduct interactive tutorials and give appropriate feedback.
MCQ tutorials include examples of typical AMC MCQs with explanations of why one answer is the correct answer. Clinical tutorials include role-play scenarios with real simulated patients to assist with communication skills.
All enrolled students at HEAL are given access to our online resources with an individual password login for the duration of their course and extending two weeks after the course end date. Included in the online resources are links to the Therapeutic Guidelines, which can also be accessed throughout the duration of the course.
