French Press, or as us Aussies call it, Plunger, allows for steeping of the coffee, adding tiny bits of coffee grounds that further percolates the flavour.

Both the French and Italians have long argued about the origins of the French Press. According to a 1850s legend it was a Frenchmen who first brewed his coffee this way for his daily walk, preparing his coffee on an open fire.
