Keep the fire burning! 🔥 This we celebrate the unyielding spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities with the theme "Blak, Loud, and Proud." This theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of Indigenous cultures, connecting to the land, each other, and the rich tapestry of traditions passed down through generations.

As a business that works with festivals that always have a smoking ceremony and an elder welcome us to their traditional lands, these moments give us the opportunity to ask questions and be a part of something profoundly moving. As many festivals have gone under or been cancelled this year, it's imperative to bring awareness to the role that the arts play in building community with our indigenous peoples.

As we stand in solidarity, let's amplify the voices that have long been silenced. This is a call to action for all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue. By igniting unity, we commit to justice and equality, ensuring the stories, traditions, and achievements of these incredible people are heard.

🌊♻️ Dive into with us! This movement began in Australia and has become a global initiative to bring awareness to our consumption habits. Here are 3 simple ways you can get involved and take the pledge this month:

Switch to Reusables: Ditch single-use plastics by using reusable bags, bottles, and containers. Every small change adds up! 🌿

Support Local Zero-Waste Stores: Shop at stores that promote sustainable living. Your support helps these businesses thrive and reduces plastic pollution. 🛒

Join a Cleanup Event: Participate in local beach or community cleanups. Together, we can keep our environment clean and plastic-free! 🧹

🌍 If we don't curb our use, plastic pollution will outweigh all the fish in the oceans by 2050. Reducing plastic use is crucial to protect marine life, reduce carbon emissions, and ensure a sustainable future for our planet.

In honour of World Environment Day and its focus on we wanted to highlight our recent efforts in Far North Queensland!

Some amazing team members at B-Alternative recently volunteered for the 25th annual Rainforest Rescue Community Tree Planting Day at the NightWings Rainforest Centre in the Daintree. This event took place on the traditional lands of the Kuku Yalanji people.

With the help of approximately 150 volunteers, 3,000 trees were planted, contributing to the restoration and protection of this ancient UNESCO World Heritage site. Every tree planted is a step towards mitigating climate change and preserving the incredible biodiversity of this region, home to species found nowhere else on the planet. The lands that were once desolate sugar cane fields are slowly regenerating and animals are returning - two cassowaries have been spotted on the land recently!

We’re grateful for our long term partnership with Rainforest Rescue and being part of this vital initiative, working together to protect one of the world’s most precious ecosystems. Huge thanks to all the volunteers and to Rainforest Rescue for their unwavering dedication to rainforest conservation!

National Reconciliation Week is a significant time for all Australians to come together and learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. This week encourages us to reflect on the role we can each play in achieving reconciliation in Australia. The theme for this year, "Now More Than Ever," highlights the pressing need for connection, respect, and meaningful action to support the ongoing fight for the rights and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is crucial to acknowledge that 6.2 million people voted Yes for A Voice to Parliament!

Now more than ever, we must ask ourselves: What can I commit to doing towards reconciliation? Attending one of the many events happening this week is a great start (link below). By participating and engaging, we can contribute to creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Let's seize this opportunity to make a positive impact and move forward together.
