A great day, celebrating a challenging but successful year with a brilliant team.

🏃‍♂️ As we all sprint towards the year-end, Kaliba's very own Greg Brown accomplished a personal goal, crossing his own finish line by completing a half marathon in Melbourne.

Greg not only embraced a personal challenge (ask him how his legs are today 😩), but also contributed to a cause dedicated to mental health awareness 😀 - the 2XU Wellness Run Proudly Supporting Beyond Blue.

Congratulations on your dedication to both personal wellness and a cause that matters, Greg!

🏆 The AFL premiership weekend has finally arrived, and whilst there are lots of smiles in this photo, only one of these faces is beaming in the office this week.

This we want to address the elephant in the room - perhaps the biggest issue impacting our tech network...

Redundancy.

You'd have to be living under a rock not to be aware that a large volume of redundancies has rocked the tech sector in recent years.

For some, it's a new experience. For others, it's sadly not the first time, nor will it be the last.

It can be traumatising, and bouncing back can be difficult. So today, we're offering up some insight into things you can do to bounce back.

And let's not forget to check in with those around us impacted by redundancy. Gone but not forgotten. Let's keep checking in with those around us and asking ? and 'How can I help?'

While the future looks bright, the past seven years have not been without challenges.

The pandemic turned the tech and IT sales worlds on their heads. We saw businesses come and go, pivot and diversify, and work harder than ever to attract and negotiate with tech talent globally and locally.

Last week, Greg Brown and James Kennedy took a few rare hours out to reflect on and appreciate how far they've come - and, yes, they were wearing our brand colours. And, no, that was not planned! 😉

Seven lucky years, perhaps?

We also like to think seven years of hard work from our team, building trust within our network of tech and IT sales vendors, businesses, and professionals across APAC, have played a role too.

So, what's the difference? 🤷🏻‍♂️

In this short blog, Greg Brown explores the difference and why building a strong team culture can be your secret weapon for retaining your tech team when they have so many career options available!

Perks VS Culture. What's the difference? In today's highly competitive tech and IT sales industry, attracting and retaining top talent is crucial for organisational success. While perks and benefits play a role in enticing potential employees, it is the company's culture that holds the key to long-term engagement and retention.

A public holiday is always appreciated. But we know this one comes with a deeper appreciation for those who worked incredibly hard with great sacrifice.

It’s important to remember why this one is important, and we pay our respects, to reflect on and honour the contributions of those courageous veterans who sacrificed so much to serve their country.

Lest we forget.

Was it last week? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Is it today? 🤷🏻‍♂️

There are various dates published and who cares when International Recruiter Day actually falls? We just want to acknowledge our fantastic team of , regardless of the date.

Day-in, day-out, they strive to support:

🌟 people who are making life or company decisions.

We are in the business of helping people, and many times our Recruiters have to disappoint and counsel the ones who didn't make the shortlist.

On the daily, they shape careers and growing businesses, and ultimately, lives.

EIGHTY PERCENT!

When we asked our network on LinkedIn, that's how many would re-hire a former employee - assuming a good track record and a vacant role.

A further EIGHT PERCENT said it depends on on other circumstances. So, in reality, this figure might be closer to ninety percent!

It's good reason to consider how you terminate an employer/employee relationship - you just never know when you might want to re-ignite that relationship!

As we celebrate the achievements of women around the world, it's important to recognise the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender - and, of course, this includes the sector.

To mark this occasion, here are 10 ways that we can all and support women in the technology and IT sales sector:

2 - 🚺 Amplify the voices of women in tech by sharing their work and experiences on social media and in your networks.

3 - 🧕🏽Mentor a woman in tech to help her navigate the industry and achieve her goals.

4 - 👩🏻‍🎤 Advocate for policies and practices that promote diversity and inclusion in your workplace, such as gender-neutral job descriptions and diverse interview panels.

5 - 🦸🏼‍♀️Challenge gender stereotypes and biases in tech whenever you encounter them, whether in the media, at work, or in your personal life.

6 - 👩🏽‍💻Support organisations that promote gender equality.

7 - 👩‍🦰 Take action to address the gender pay gap in tech by advocating for equal pay and supporting initiatives that promote pay equity.

8 - 🙅🏻‍♀️ Listen to and believe women when they share their experiences of discrimination or harassment in the workplace.

9 - 👧🏻 Support women's participation in tech by advocating for programs and initiatives that encourage girls and young women to pursue careers in tech.

10 - 🙋🏼‍♀️ Educate yourself on how to use gender inclusive language when constructing job ads.

A commitment to and work towards a technology sector that is truly diverse, inclusive, and supportive of women should be everyday, not just on .

Well, that was interesting!

After learning of the success of a 6-hour workday implemented by software development company, Code Heroes, we asked our LinkedIn network whether they thought a 6-hour workday could work in your workplace.

At Code Heroes, all employees work between 9 am and 1 pm and refrain from taking extended breaks during this time. They can decide for themselves when to make up the extra two hours.

This shorter, concentrated work day, has boosted their productivity by about 15%!

The votes are in and 51% of those who responded indicated it could work in their workplace, with a further 15% indicating they'd like to try it.

As the world continues to become more flexible, it will be interesting to see whether shorter work days will take off. What do you think?

Originally from Adelaide, over the last 9 years, Bella has enjoyed a career across Australia, working in various sales and management roles in the retail sector. Bella joins the Kaliba team as an Account Manager, where she’ll be focused on connecting and talent to global tech vendors.

With a genuine interest in people, Bella is currently studying psychology at Swinburne University of Technology. In her spare time, you'll find her listening to the likes of Andrew Huberman and Jordan Peterson, gaining inspiration from various pioneers in this space, such as authors Irving Yalon, Viktor Frankl and Carl Rodgers.

So, what’s Bella currently reading at the moment?
