Hailing from Aotearoa (New Zealand), Defect is renowned for his bass-heavy rhythms and soulful melodies.
Before taking centre stage as a DJ, Defect showcased his musical ability as a bass player in several bands. This extensive experience gave him a profound understanding of rhythm, groove, and the unique ability to read a crowd and connect with them.
Presently living in Naarm (Melbourne, AU), Defect seamlessly combines the analogue charm of vinyl with a contemporary digital approach. An avid vinyl collector at heart, his genuine passion for this medium is reflected in his performances.
Defect's DJ career includes appearances and guest mixes on prominent radio shows and stages. He has graced the airwaves of renowned platforms such as Orbital Radio, (AUS) Hydration Mix Series, 170+ Recordings (CAN), Rinse N Wash show (Bassdrive) and Drop FM in Queenstown, Aotearoa (NZ).
He's been on support for Need For Mirrors, Ben Soundscape, Collette Warren, Bou and Basstripper. He has played for crews such as Twisted Audio, Run N Chase, Midnight Request, Delight Records and Ohmega DNB.

Having spent time living and playing in the music scene of Vancouver, BC, Defect absorbed the diverse sounds and cultures, shaping his eclectic style. While his primary focus remains on the soulful depths of drum and bass, he tastefully incorporates elements from related genres, infusing his sets with flavors of halftime, jungle & 140. His sets are a testament to his passion for the more melodic side of the spectrum, evoking powerful emotions while maintaining an infectious energy.

Currently based in the music mecca of Melbourne/Naarm, Defect has not only embraced the digital age but has remained steadfast in his dedication to vinyl. A collector at heart, his love for vinyl has transcended into his performances.
