Hey nature enthusiasts! 🍃 It's that time of year when fledgling birds are taking their first flight attempts. 🐣 Here's a quick guide on what to do if you come across a young bird on the ground:

🤔 Q: Found a baby bird?
❌ A: Leave it alone.

👶🐦 Fledglings can spend up to 2 weeks on the ground learning to fly, with their watchful mom nearby. 🕊️ Don't worry if they're not soaring yet - it's all part of the learning process.

We understand that cats aren't just small dogs. They have their own special needs and the Flemington Vet Hospital has achieved this accreditation to demonstrate our commitment to our feline friends.

🌟 Farewell to a Remarkable Colleague! 🌟

We're sharing some bittersweet news with our community. Dr. Anne Dynon, our esteemed colleague, is embarking on a new chapter as she retires from her practice with us after 34 years. While we'll deeply miss her, we're thrilled about the exciting adventures that await her.

Dr. Dynon's dedication and wisdom have left an indelible mark on our practice. Her legacy lives on as she embraces quality time with her adorable Bichon companions, Jay Bear and Sunni.

Rest assured, our daily operations will continue seamlessly under our lead vet Vincent and practice manager Heather. Please join us in sending heartfelt wishes to Dr. Dynon for a fulfilling retirement.

Have you ever wondered what a typical day looks like for a vet? Follow Dr Vincent throughout his day. 💉💉💉

As well as being our lead vet, Vincent is also one of our business managers and impromptu handyman. On any given day, you might find Vincent doing surgery or writing new hospital protocols or even grooming a cat (and yes, he does do decent cat haircuts 😹). He also spends time training our team of vets, nurses and vet students.

Vincent spent 5 years in vet school to become a qualified vet. He then did a 4 year clinical masters while he was working full time😬. Have you ever thought about becoming a vet? 👇Leave your questions in the comments 👇

Welcome to the team - Yuri

Yuri is our new casual animal attendant/vet nurse. She is currently a student at the University of Melbourne studying Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She started out at the Flemington Vet Hospital doing placement work. Our team loved her so much that we couldn't let her leave!

Yuri will be working Saturdays and some weekdays. Pop in to say hi 👋

Romeo, Jade and Marley paid Dr Alycia a visit - they received their first puppy vaccinations and were very brave!

🚽 Handy cat tip 🚽

If you have more than one cat at home, the general recommendation is to have extra litter trays (number of cats + 1). However, have you ever considered where you need to place the litter trays?

Here's some food for thought. Think about going to the toilet in a public bathroom. Even if there are toilets available, most of us would prefer to not p**p next to someone else. Cats can be the same.

If your cats don't quite get along or maybe you're having toileting issues, try placing litter trays in separate areas so your cats can have more privacy.
