Time to share my passion with the world 🌎💚
We have had sooo many DMs already about our latest interview and it only went live two days ago.
Why? Well I think it’s mainly because this woman 👆🏽 , the amazing Anna Chisholm, founder of Bungalow Loves Colour!], is one of the most down to earth and insightful small business owners I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
I asked Anna onto the podcast as I have been lucky enough to witness her journey over the last few years via group coaching, and I’ve seen first-hand how encouraging and compassionate she is toward other small business owners; how many great tips she provides and how open she is to share the up and downs of life as a small business owner.
Anna is coming up to celebrating a decade in business (!!!🎉🎉🎉) and in our chat, she shares a wealth of insights and tips from mindset to money - helpful whether you’re just staring out or you have been a business owner for years.
If you haven’t already listened, definitely check it out (via link in my bio or find the latest episode wherever you usually listen). In there will be MANY times when you're frustrated, hurt, pi$$ed off, angry, upset and confused by someone else's response, words, actions or inactions — whether a client, customer, colleague or competitor. I try and remind myself, in those instances, of these words by the brilliant Pema Chödrön (thanks for the intro to her ).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every situation, every person, every experience can be a lesson if we dare to get curious about it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead of getting annoyed, try and take a second to consider, what is this teaching me right now?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Really looking forward to this one!

Last night (after being invited by the lovely Phoebe Bell of - thanks lovely xx) I attended the powerful exhibition and deep listening experience, Seasons in Blak Box (presented by Urban Theatre Projects & Royal Botanical Gardens and curated by Aboriginal broadcaster and radio journalist Daniel Browning).
The multi-part sound work explores the Kulin seasonal calendar and the way the plants and nature all have their role in helping us understand what’s going on with the earth and with ourselves. We listened to a variety of Aboriginal elders, leaders and experts as they relayed stories about nature and about themselves.
Sitting there in the darkness inside the Blak Box, on the eve of today’s National Sorry Day, the content was perhaps even more powerful, and if I’m honest, heartbreaking. The knowledge and understanding and one-ness with our country Aboriginal people have is unrivaled, they are one of the oldest living civilizations in the world and yet, we are failing to listen, to act and stand up for true equality. We all know the stats and we see the discrimination and yet, we let important dates like today, go past without really reflecting on what reconciliation looks like. What can we do in our own businesses and communities to bring about change? ❤️💛🖤
Today is also the one-year anniversary of the death of George Floyd - an event that sparked so many small business owners worldwide to vow to do more to tackle racism, unlearn and learn, seek out education and make a conscious effort to be fully inclusive.
So today, May 26, a date that’s so very important for ALL Australians, spend some time really listening to First Nations leaders, learning how to be part of genuine reconciliation and analysing the changes you have made since this time last year.
Nothing changes if nothing changes and it’s people like me, white, privileged, non-Indigenous who need to take the time to listen, learn and take action.
If you are in Melbourne, you can see Seaons in Blak Box now until early June via https://rising.melbourne/festival-program/seasons-in-blak-box
Thanks again for the invite Phoebe!
