⏳ The grand opening of the Puckle Street branch of T. B. Scott, a grocery chain, in 1932. 🏪 This premises fared better than its Fairfield counterpart, which was attacked by arsonists that same year - thieves threw gasoline on a side of bacon and set it alight. 🥓🔥 Although, the Puckle Street store did get in trouble the following year for over-weighing vegetables... 🥕⚖

We're thrilled that Moonee Valley City Council have recognised the importance of our work in the community and selected Helping Hands as a recipient in the most recent round of Community Grants. Cr Pierce Tyson - Mayor of Moonee Valley came to share the good news with the pantry team!

Being a Partnership Grant recipient will increase our capacity to deliver food aid to meet the growing needs of the community, by helping cover some of the expense of bringing food into the Community Pantry. The sourcing, storing and delivering of food comes at a significant cost to the charity every week, and the funding sought through Council will support our ability to get fresh, frozen and non-perishable food to those who need it most.
