🙌Only a few weeks after the introduction of new laws granting workers the right to disconnect from after-hours communications, the Fair Work Commission is now exploring the possibility of legally entitling employees to flexible work arrangements.

The outcomes of this review will be pretty ground breaking to say the least, serving as recommendations to the federal government for potential legislative changes.

Recent research from the Melbourne Institute reveals that a significant majority of workers (60%) are in favor of having the option to work from home, with many open to hybrid working models. 

While studies indicate that remote work does not affect productivity, it's important for employers to adapt and find innovative ways to facilitate mentoring and foster spontaneous collaboration.

The Australian Taxation Office is currently calling in income tax
debts amounting to tens of billions of dollars that were previously deemed ‘uneconomical to pursue’.

These debts, totaling more than $15 billion from approximately 1.8 million entities, primarily individuals, may even increase once interest is factored in.

For many taxpayers, it has been a
surprising and unsettling experience to see these old debts resurface, some after more than a decade, accompanied by substantial interest charges

In a recent report, the Commonwealth Ombudsman and Taxation Ombudsman expressed concerns over the ATO's handling of these long-dormant debts and its treatment of individuals facing
financial hardship.

The report emphasised the importance of agencies taking action in a manner that minimises distress to those affected.

Tax Ombudsman Karen Payne noted an increase in complaints about
the ATO, including issues related to historical debts and inaccurately overstated amounts.

💗 Over Christmas and a chunk of January, I got the chance to head back to Great Britain visiting Scotland, Wales, and London after a whopping 11 years. (And let me tell you, it was FREEZING – totally different from getting used to the Aussie heat!)

When it comes down to it, staying motivated is all about that drives you.

Because if you truly want something, you'll move mountains to make it happen. No ifs or buts, just pure determination.

But excuses...well they aren't all bad. They're the red flag that pops up when when the oportunity doesn't feel quite right.

Three years back, when Microchilli made its grand entrance, I was naively hopeful that once I nailed down clients, everything else would just magically fall into place.

The reality check hit hard with failed team recruitments, an overload that almost tanked my mental health, and the dreaded questioning of whether it was worth the hustle.

In 2023, I was feeling lost in a sea of expectations, seeking guidance from the wrong corners, and I hit a wall. But a soul-searching moment changed it all. Realising my values didn't sync with my advisors, I shifted gears.

Now, armed with newfound clarity and support network that 'gets' me, 2024 is the year of elevating my business to new heights, ditching the non-stop work grind, welcoming top-notch talent, and embracing my growth as a leader. Lesson learned: you're not alone in this journey, just find your tribe!
