Making an informed decision about your glazing package requires an understanding of material longevity. An environmental study, commissioned by the Australian Government, found aluminium skinned timber windows, such as Miglas AliClad, had the longest product lifecycle – twice that of a uPVC window. The study also revealed composite windows had the lowest embodied carbon, being 40% lower than a timber only window. Did you know that Miglas offers delivery with a biofuel option? With the only truck on the market today backed by a full manufacturer’s warranty to run 100% biodiesel, customers can select delivery which provides significant reduction to the entire carbon footprint of a project.
Biodiesel is a clean non-toxic, locally produced, alternative to traditional petroleum diesel and results in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, particulates, hydrocarbons and other toxic emissions. The National Greenhouse Accounts state that one litre of biodiesel can reduce net emissions of CO2 by over 95%, so for every litre of biodiesel consumed, it can save approximately 2.5kg of CO2. For an innovative, sustainable future, choose Miglas.

To offset the energy required in production of our high performance windows, Miglas has equipped our Victorian manufacturing facility with solar power. The 384 panels and micro-inverters offset over 50% of total factory consumption. Unlike residential solar power systems, where the majority of power is fed directly back into the grid, this direct offset system utilises power as it’s produced, providing a better yield. Our solar power system offsets approximately 198 tonnes of greenhouse emissions annually, which is the equivalent of taking over 43 cars off the road each year.
At Miglas, we're proud to exclusively use Viridian glass, Australia's largest and sole glass manufacturer, in all our premium, Australian-made windows. Viridian Glass Australia offers the widest range of insulative glass solutions, ensuring each Miglas window is custom specified to meet the unique requirements of your location and desired thermal performance. By selecting the highest performing low-e glass, we provide our customers with unparalleled thermal control, significantly enhancing a building's energy efficiency.

Common window frame materials include aluminium, PVC, timber, and composite aluminium clad. Composite windows, like Miglas AliClad, stand out with an impressive average durability of over 46 years—nearly double that of PVC windows. While timber and aluminium frames have good longevity, each has drawbacks in thermal and noise performance as well as maintenance requirements. When durability and inherent sustainability counts, choose Miglas high performance windows.
Why choose Miglas for your glazing package? Our exclusive AliClad range delivers an energy efficient, stylish and long-lasting system with low embodied energy across its lifecycle. Aliclad frames are engineered to offer one of the lowest air infiltration ratings in the industry, which when combined with double glazing as standard, reduces reliance on artificial heating to create a more sustainable Australian homes.

The composite nature of the Aliclad system, which combines the advantages of both timber and aluminium framing, allows for more efficient optimisation of raw materials. The Miglas production process uses high precision CNC machinery which minimises waste. Timber offcuts are re-purposed through a lamination and finger jointing process or utilised for timber plugs, dowels, and infill pieces, virtually eliminating all timber waste. Aluminium offcuts are collected and recycled within Australia to be re-purposed. As the demand for green building rapidly expands, local Miglas manufacturing is at the forefront of sustainable solutions.
The introduction of Capral Super Green Aluminium for the AliClad range, provides Miglas customers with a cleaner, greener option for their building projects. Low Carbon Aluminium is locally extruded and reduces CO2 emissions in production by 75% less than the world manufacturing average. Responsibly sourced lower-carbon aluminium has same structural properties as traditional aluminium, and is certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) as a high performance, durable product that minimises environmental impact.
With local material procurement, design and manufacturing, Miglas has one of the lowest CO2 outputs of any window system in Australia. Our Aliclad composite system utilises hardwood internal frames that are PEFC certified and sourced from sustainably managed forests in line with strict international requirements. This renewable material is an excellent heat and humidity regulator, reducing conduction for maximum comfort. Combined with a robust aluminium external frame, double glazing and bespoke silicone seals, they are the sustainable, high performance glazing solution.

Designed and made in Victoria, with all major input materials sourced locally, the embodied carbon of Miglas products is significantly lower than internationally manufactured products. As the logistics and transport sector contributes over a third of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, the Miglas commitment to locally source and manufacture reflects our desire to build a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.

As featured in Sanctuary Magazine, this energy efficient home in Lyonville is a great example of why the airtightness of windows and doors is so important. Located at 740 metres elevation, the area gets frosts from April to December, and it snows several times a year. The clients selected Miglas Aliclad for their glazing package as it is ranked by The Australian Glass and Windows Association (AGWA) and Window Energy Rating Scheme (WERS) as having one of the lowest levels of air infiltration in the industry. This high-performance glazing helps keep the home at a consistent temperature, lowering reliance on heating and cooling.
