The RWH and Frances Perry House set up a blood donor pop up a few weeks ago, with an astounding 121 donors in 4 days, 61 of those being new donors!

Dr Jenny, Dr Kym and of course our life blood ambassador, Dr Renee were all part of this drive. The products donated during the pop up will save up to 363 lives!!

We hope that this can become a more common occurrence at the hospital & encourage you to donate if you are eligible! ☺️☺️

Kym recently shared her passion for gynaecological surgery when she helped facilitate the Deakin medical students’ surgical interest group evening where students were able to practice their laparoscopic surgical prowess in a safe space- with laparoscopic trainers supplied by Applied Medical.

The laparoscopic room was by far the most fun. I’m sure she has convinced the medical students that O&G is the best career path! 🧑‍⚕️

**no students or patients were harmed in the training session**

Our doctors are very passionate and involved in training the next generation of doctors 👩‍⚕️

Veronique will be shadowing our obstetricians from Monday
8th of July to Friday the 2nd of August. She may be present in one of your appointments during this time & we are so happy to have her 🤗

Happy World Blood Donor Day! ❤️♥️

Pregnant women can’t donate blood, but 1% of women will require a blood transfusion during labour and birth.

We wanted to say a big thank you to all of those who can donate blood and blood products.
Our own, Dr Renee Wong is one of the Frances Perry House lifeblood ambassadors and will be part of running the blood drive in July.

Get your friends and family to book in with to give back!!

✨Our offices are getting a facelift! ✨

Suite 8 will be closed from tomorrow until Friday. All appointments will be going ahead in Suite B, still on level 2.
Our staff will be reduced during this period so we may take a little longer to get back to emails & non urgent phone calls

As always an obstetrician will always be available for emergencies after hours via the call service on 9387 1000 or you can call the Frances Perry Birth Suites on 9344 5100

Wondering how the Maternal Child Health Nurse (MCHN) becomes involved with your care postnatally?

Recently two of our patients met each other through their new parents’ group. Georgia and Annie realised they were both WOGS patients while Baby Smith, and twins Florence and Levi were playing together on the floor.

How cute are the three little Woglets together! 😍🥰

Welcome Dr Carly! 💜🖤

Some of you may have seen Carly at your antenatal appointments this week. Carly will be a temporary addition to the Women’s O&G specialists while Dr Kym Jansen takes some long service leave.

Carly completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at the Royal Women’s Hospital after working across a diverse range of health services in both Victoria and the Northern Territory. Most recently Carly has been working in tertiary high-risk obstetrics at The Women’s, with experience in complex surgical management of pregnancy and birth, women with multiple pregnancies, and those at high risk of preterm labour.

She is passionate about all aspects of Women’s health, with a focus on supporting families across their pregnancy to achieve a safe and positive birth journey.

We are so happy to have Carly on board & can’t wait for you to meet her at your upcoming appointments 🥰

💜 Happy International Women’s Day! 💜

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible strength, resilience, and power of women everywhere, especially within our own pioneering all-female group obstetric practice here in Melbourne.

To mark this special day, we’ve delivered cupcakes to all our amazing patients in Frances Perry House this morning. Each of you embodies the spirit of womanhood in your own unique way, and we’re honoured to be part of your journey.

Here’s to all the women who inspire us, support us, and make the world a better place. 💕

Did you know that all of our ‘woglets’ receive a beanie at birth?

The design changes every few years & our lovely patient, Mel, was able to snag the elephant, giraffe and the rabbit PLUS of course three wonderful children (all delivered by Dr Kym Jansen) 🥰🩷

FETAL MONITORING DURING LABOUR 📝

We have previously posted about what a CTG is but interpreting the CTG trace requires a good understanding of fetal physiology and all doctors and midwives regularly undertake training to ensure they maintain competency in this skill.

Kym and Jenny recently completed the RANZCOG Fetal Surveillance Education Package alongside other obstetricians and midwives 👩‍⚕️🌟

About Us

Women’s Obstetric and Gynaecology Specialists (WOGS) was established in 1998 and pioneered group private practice in Melbourne. Our five female obstetricians and gynaecologists – Dr Jenny Dowd, Dr Khairul Mohamed-Noor, Dr Kym Jansen, Dr Renee Wong and Dr Philippa Costley – combine their expertise to provide specialist care in a warm and supportive environment.

Pregnancy care
At WOGS, we consider it a privilege to accompany families on their pregnancy journey. Our practice offers an innovative model of private obstetric. Placing our patients at the centre of care, we use our considerable experience to support them to make informed choices and achieve a safe and healthy delivery.

Patients can access one of our specialist obstetricians 24 hours a day throughout their pregnancy and up until their six-week postnatal visit. Patients will mainly see their dedicated primary obstetrician; however, they also meet all the WOGS obstetricians to ensure that they will always be cared for by someone who is familiar to them. All our obstetric patients are delivered at Frances Perry House, the private hospital co-located with us above the Royal Women's Hospital.

Gynaecology
Our highly experienced gynaecologists perform a wide range of procedures, including those relating to abnormal bleeding, painful periods and endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, fertility issues and menopause.
