The Kid's Lit Quiz (the sport of reading) team had an amazing time is Sydney competing in the National titles. They arrived in Sydney Sunday morning and spent the day sightseeing and taking a ride on the ferry to Watsons Bay. They were able to experience the Vivid Light Festival on Sunday night. Monday was competition day. The tiles were held in the State Library of NSW. 350 schools have been competing to make the final 17 at the national titles. Teams were asked a total of 70 questions to test their knowlege on young adult literature. We weren't the winners, but the students are already asking about next year. This was Sandringham College's first time in the competition, to make the Nationals was an exceptional result.
Thanks to Ms Renouf and Ms Deegan for supporting the team, encouraging them to try their best and for accompanying them on the trip.

SANDRINGHAM COLLEGE UNDEFEATED
The Brighton Region's inter-school debate competition concluded last evening (Wed. 29 May) with its Fifth Round. Sandringham was represented by the College's Year 10 team who defeated Brighton Grammar to finish the standard season undefeated. They can now look forward (again!) to the week-by-week Victoria-wide play-offs and finals knock-out competition which begins in August.

The Topic of last evening's 'power-paired' Round was: 'That alternative medicine should be banned' and Sandringham successfully argued the negative: finding and then soundly swinging the club of personal medical autonomy upon the heads of our APS neighbours. Well done to Xander (on debut), Amelie, and Zara. Notable assists to Fred, Kieran, Jimmy, and to our staff wellbeing team - some of whose efforts were used as examples of commendable alternative measures. Finally, an honourable mention to our opponents: for showing that the words "hooligan" and "charlatan" are still part of some young people's vocabulary.

SANDRINGHAM COLLEGE INTER-SCHOOL DEBATE TEAM WINS AGAIN!

Round Four of the Brighton Region's inter-school debate competition was held last evening (Wednesday, 15 May) where Sandringham was represented by our Year 10 Team. Our School defeated Albert Park College, successfully arguing for the motion: 'That the government should implement a screen time limit for children.' Sandringham remains undefeated; so, well done to Amelie, Kieran, and Zara who debated last evening. Honourable mentions this Round to: BROE for teaching the 11PSY class where the Team learned about Piaget, cortexes, developmental stages, and something else which so flummoxed their opponents; and, the second speaker of Albert Park, who referred to Sandringham's arguments as the views of only "the questionable few."

Thanks to Mr Sise for continuing to inspire our team of debaters.
