Wattle Glen Fire Brigade
Wattle Glen Fire Brigade is a volunteer CFA brigade in Melbourne's north-eastern suburbs. Ring 000 (
Santa has been working hard on his schedule for next Sunday evening:
At about 4 p.m. he'll be starting in Warrington Cres., going to Sunnyside, Edward, Reynolds and Kamarooka and its courts (see first map).
He'll be stopping for a break at about 5.30-6.00, then heading to Silvan Rd at about 7.00. From there (second map), Main Rd., Scott's Angle, Upper, Lower, Mannish, Clarke, Park, KG Rd., Valley, Neerim.
Of course, there may be unforseen changes, Santa's helpers will be updating their location, so follow us to get the latest information.
Know what you can do during fire restrictions and on Total Fire Ban days.
Can I or Can't I? Find out what you can and can't do during the declared Fire Danger Period, and on days of Total Fire Ban, when fires in the open air are legally restricted.
It's nearly that time again! Santa will be visiting Wattle Glen on Christmas Eve. He'll start his tour of our lovely suburb at about 4 p.m. Keep an eye on our page for updates on his schedule, and listen out for the sirens. See maps below of his route, exact times still to be advised.
This evening we attended the Nillumbik Group of Fire Brigades Blessing of the Fleet, along with our neighbouring brigades. Whether you have a religious faith or not, it's a lovely tradition that recognises the role of CFA members and vehicles in protecting our communities. Thanks Kangaroo Ground CFA for organising it.
We're enjoying our Christmas lunch today, we hope you enjoy yours, whenever it is.
On International Volunteer Day, we'd like to remind everyone that all CFA firefighters are volunteers, who give up their time to train for and respond to emergencies, and to support their local and wider communities.
If you'd like to join us, either as an active firefighter or in a support role, give us a call on 0437 716 079, drop in to the Fire Station on any Sunday morning, or visit the CFA Recruitment page -

A peek at the charming Sam Cox garden where we will be managing the gate this weekend.
If you were wondering about the siren yesterday afternoon, this is what it was. Great teamwork by all involved, and good to see the newly qualified firefighters in action, including our own firefighter Jane.
Today our volunteers are helping at the Tram Cafe in Diamond Creek. Drop in for a coffee and a snack while you walk along the creek track.
We are looking forward to helping out at Sam’s Open Garden
This afternoon several of our members, or their representatives, were presented with the National Emergency Medal in recognition of their service during the extraordinary 2019-20 fire season. Well done all, we're so proud of you!
Three turnouts in three days! All during the daytime, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! That siren's been going off A LOT!
All the incidents were in neighbouring brigade areas, and we were happy to be able to help, just as neighbouring brigades help us when necessary.
If you'd like to give us a hand, especially if you're normally in our beautiful township during the daytime on weekdays, we'd love to hear from you. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/volunteers-careers/volunteer-with-cfa
The Fire Danger Period is when CFA restricts the use of fire in the community to help prevent fires from starting.
Fire Danger Periods have now begun in parts of the state. If the FDP hasn't been declared in your area yet - now is the time to prepare.

🚒Please see below information regarding the up coming bushfire safety expo!! There will be lots of things to do, see and learn! We look forward to seeing you there!🚒
We're preparing for the fire season, it's time for you to do so too!
This morning, as part of our weekly Sunday training, we fought an imaginary grass fire, practised the Entrapment Drill and checked some of our local fire access tracks.
It's time to make sure your place is cleared up for summer. Please make sure you register your burn-off at https://firepermits.vic.gov.au/, or by phone to 1800 668 511.
Registering your burn-off will avoid the Brigade being unecessarily called out.
Although it's a joy and a privilege to serve our community, we're all volunteers and we'd rather not be called away from our families and jobs to rush to an unregistered bonfire!
Having said that, thanks to those who've called 000 to report smoke sightings over the last few weeks. We'd rather be called to a burn-off than be notified late of a dangerous fire.
Fire fighter Jane is face painting 🌸🌸
The kransky sausages are cooked! Come on down !
The kids activities are ready with face painting! The plants are waiting! Come on down!
It is a busy weekend for the brigade with the CFA torch light parade as part of the Diamond Creek Town fair!
A big Thanks to Plant Growers Australia for these lovely cottage plants for the plant sale on Sunday
The plants for Sunday!
This morning we took part in the Nillumbik Group of Fire Brigades mystery exercise at Eltham College. The scenario was a bushfire nearby threatening the school with falling embers and multiple ignition points. Thanks to ELTHAM College for hosting us, and thanks to the many volunteer organisers and attendees who gave up their Sunday morning to take part in this very valuable training.
