We acknowledge the loss of one of our past Teachers, Chris Livingstone. Chris started at ELTHAM College in 1977 as Head of Mathematics and went on to become Head of Computing. We have been told that he led the school to be ahead of its time digitally when he left in 1985. Chris is remembered fondly, and still organised a Christmas Pudding Making social day for some ex-staff and friends every year. This tradition started in the earliest days of ELTHAM College.

The following information has been sent to ELTHAM College from Chris’s brother Simon.
Celebration of Life Gathering:
DATE: Friday 6th September 2024
TIME: 1.30pm for 2pm Start.
LOCATION: Yarra Glen Memorial Hall. Situated on the main street of Yarra Glen at the edge of McKenzie reserve.

We know Chris would not want this to be a gloomy event but rather a happy remembrance of good times. Please feel free to wear something colourful. Chris has made friends across many varied work and social environments over the years. Your personal memories of times spent with Chris give context and meaning to a life well lived. We'd love to hear your stories.

Also to assist with catering can I ask you to let us know if you are likely to be attending. Given Chris's background and love of everything digital we thought it appropriate to create a tribute website on which you can post a tribute or photos and view other posts. I invite you to take a look. You can do this by clicking on to the link: mykeeper.com/ChrisLivingstone

If you would like to attend, or speak about Chris or write something to be read out at the celebration, please message us directly so we can let Simon know.

ELTHAM College hosts Australia's Biggest Morning Tea | Humanitix 29/05/2024

Once again, ELTHAM College Community Association are hosting an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea to help Cancer Council raise vital funds for people impacted by cancer.

$10.00 from each ticket sold will be donated straight to the Cancer Council, and ELTHAM College will match any donations made. We have set a fundraising goal of $1500. It’ll help fund world-class cancer research, which has already increased cancer survival rates from 49% in the 1980s to 69% today, plus it can fund prevention initiatives like the HPV vaccine and the new cervical screening program, which have put Australia on track to become the first country to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem. How incredible is that?!

Plus, your donation will also importantly help fund support services for the 150,000 Australians who are diagnosed with cancer every year. With support services in higher demand than ever, your help now is particularly vital.

Help us reach our goal by attending, and together we can help Australia take big steps towards a cancer free future!

Back in the day staff and students shared the roles – in Trial by Jury, the Principal Des Davey was the Judge!
