Slave mentality and colorism runs deep in Mauritian culture, from older generations down to my very own peers, it's sad as hell. I refuse to straighten my hair because I simply love the natural beauty of African hair. I was never a kid to claim the "white card" whenever white Aussie kids would bag me for wearing baggy jeans or "homie" clothes or for liking hiphop music... I was just always proud to be me, proud to be different, proud to be black inside and out. My blood would boil whenever anyone would refer to me as white or say "you're not even black, you're tanned"..my African ancestors survived slavery, rapings, beatings, horrific unspeakable things and I'll be damned if I ever denied their beautiful colour or roots. It's because of their RESILIENCE, STRENGTH and SUPERPOWERS I stand here today. 💪🏾👊🏼👊🏽👊🏾👊🏿🇲🇺

Honey, I grew my glutes!!! And my shoulders have some nice definition too. I can't stop looking at my butt, its never looked so peachy in my life hahaha.. Thanks to Body Pump, its my favourite because it's a full body workout in 45-55 mins. Big muscles groups out of the way first (legs, chest, back) then small muscle groups (biceps, triceps, lunges, shoulders) and finish with core and cool down. DONE! There's no jumping, running, skipping or burpees (which I hate) however you definitely get the cardio kick and sweat throughout the class. Each song focuses on a Body part and you don't have to lift heavy to get results. Twice or three times a week is all the commitment you need, as long as you're consistent.

Before my morning classes I take a Sumo shot and eat an avocado or banana, which helps my energy level surge throughout class. Then I enjoy good hearty lunch including a complex carb (bread, rice, pasta or potato) afterwards and lots of water!! Then smile at my butt in the mirror the next day 😁😁

It pays to ask an expert to correct your technique, no point making time to exercise if you're not doing it correctly.
I've wasted the last few months doing lunges that were hindering me rather than helping. Now that I know better, I can certainly feel the difference in my butt and legs and it's a nice pain. You know the kind of pain that reminds you you're doing it the right way 😁
