New time, new name, new class...........

The youth speed and power class is an excellent opportunity for young athletes to enhance their athletic abilities. By focusing on complex movement patterns and intensity levels similar to those encountered in specific sports, participants can effectively train their bodies to meet the demands of their chosen activities.

The emphasis on progression over time is crucial, as it allows athletes to gradually build strength, agility, and overall fitness while minimizing the risk of injury. Additionally, learning how to move more effectively can greatly benefit athletes in terms of both performance and injury prevention.

Ultimately, the goal of the class—to improve performance within one's chosen sport—is highly motivating. By providing a structured and challenging environment for young athletes to develop their skills, the class sets them on a path toward success on the field, court, or track.

Your first class is complimentary! Come on down and give it a try.

2️⃣ Position: Sit or lie down comfortably with your foot elevated.

4️⃣ Anchor: Start above the ankle bone and wrap around the foot to secure.
5️⃣ Create Stirrups: Wrap diagonally under the arch and up around the back of the ankle.
6️⃣ Optional Heel Locks: To add extra stability, create a heel lock by wrapping the tape around the back of the heel and crossing it over the front of the foot before continuing with figure-6 wraps.
7️⃣ Figure-6 Wraps: Wrap in a figure-6 pattern, ensuring even tension and coverage.
8️⃣ Lock: Finish by locking the tape in place just above the ankle bone.

Last week Rise Physiotherapist Shivan Kotecha travelled up to the Gold Coast as part of the Victorian state team to cover the trampolining and rhythmic gymnastics at the Australian Gymnastics Championships.

Being part of the Victorian state team for such a significant event, must have been thrilling, especially with the added importance of it being an Olympic selection opportunity. It's great to hear that Shiv was able to contribute as part of the physio team, ensuring the athletes were in top condition and providing support for any minor issues that arose.

Learning from other high-level professionals in the field, both through practical experience and professional development discussions, is invaluable for personal and career growth. It's fantastic that Shiv had the chance to exchange knowledge and techniques with colleagues, further enhancing his skills in injury management and related areas.

And bringing back a bit of Gold Coast sunshine must have been a nice bonus! It sounds like Shiv made the most of his time there, both professionally and personally.

If you would like to book in to see Shiv, please call the clinic on 9763 9233 or book online www.risehealthgroup.com.au - Shiv is also available at our Brighton Clinic on Monday's and Wednesday's.

This year for Exercise Right week 20-26 May 2024 the theme is JUST MOVE!

In line with the theme, we sat down to discuss “The secret to ongoing fitness success in 2024 is about being flexible, changing intentions to behavior and taking a long-term approach that is tailored to your lifestyle.” with our Exercise Physiologist Sheryn.

The secret to ongoing fitness success, in my opinion, lies in consistency, adaptability, and enjoyment. Here's what that means to me:

Consistency: Making movement a regular part of your routine is key to long-term success. Whether it's 30 minutes a day or longer sessions a few times a week, staying consistent with your exercise habits helps build momentum and ensures you continue to reap the benefits of physical activity.

Adaptability: Life is unpredictable, and our schedules and priorities can change. Being adaptable means finding ways to incorporate movement into your day regardless of what life throws at you. Whether it's adjusting your workout time, trying different activities, or modifying your routine to fit your current circumstances, flexibility is essential for maintaining fitness over the long term.

Enjoyment: Finding activities that you genuinely enjoy makes staying active feel less like a chore and more like a rewarding part of your lifestyle. Whether it's hiking, dancing, swimming, or playing a sport, choosing activities that bring you joy increases the likelihood that you'll stick with them over time.

Ultimately, the secret to ongoing fitness success is finding what works for you and making it a sustainable part of your life. By prioritizing consistency, adaptability, and enjoyment, you can create a fitness routine that supports your health and well-being for years to come.

Tell us in the comments below what's your secret to ongoing fitness?

Exercise Right Week - 20th to 26th May 2024

The Australian physical activity guidelines provide a valuable framework for maintaining optimal health, with the recommendation of 30 minutes of movement per day being a manageable and effective way to improve physical and mental well-being. Whether broken up into short bursts throughout the day or completed in a single workout, achieving this target is attainable for most people and can have significant benefits for overall health.

Consistency is key when it comes to exercise, as regular physical activity is one of the most important factors for long-term health. By incorporating daily exercise habits into your routine, you can establish a sustainable lifestyle that supports your physical and mental well-being over time.

Whether it's walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, or participating in group fitness classes, find activities that you enjoy and that fit your lifestyle to ensure long-term adherence.

Remember, exercise is not just about physical health—it also has numerous benefits for mental health, including reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting overall well-being. By prioritizing regular physical activity, you can enjoy a healthier and happier life now and in the future.

International No Diet Day on May 6th is a powerful reminder to reject diet culture, challenge weight stigma, and embrace body positivity. It's a day to celebrate the diversity of body shapes and sizes, promoting acceptance and self-love over restrictive eating practices.

Diet culture often prioritizes thinness over health and well-being, leading many individuals to cycle through fad diets in pursuit of a certain body ideal. However, these diets can have harmful consequences, including the development of disordered eating habits and negative relationships with food.

Instead of focusing on diets, No Diet Day encourages individuals to adopt a more balanced approach to eating, free from labels and restrictions. By honoring our body's natural cues and nourishing ourselves with a variety of foods, we can promote overall health and happiness without the need for strict rules or deprivation.

If you're interested in breaking free from diet culture and building a healthier relationship with food, consider booking an appointment with me on a Monday or Thursday. Together, we can work towards embracing body acceptance and living a more fulfilling and balanced lifestyle.

Give the clinic a call at 9763 9233 to schedule your appointment now.

🏋️Muscle Tear vs Tendinopathy: What's the difference??

Understanding the distinction between a muscle tear and tendinopathy is indeed essential for proper injury management and rehabilitation.

Here's a breakdown of the key differences between the two:

Muscle Tear:

* Occurs when muscle fibers are overstretched or torn due to sudden impact or forceful movement.
* Symptoms may include sudden sharp pain, swelling, bruising, and potentially a visible deformity in severe cases.
* Common causes include traumatic events such as sports injuries, accidents, or sudden movements that place excessive stress on the muscle.

Tendinopathy:

*Involves injuries to a tendon, which connects muscle to bone.
*Typically develops gradually over time due to repetitive strain or overuse, leading to pain, stiffness, and sometimes swelling around the affected tendon.
*Common causes include repetitive movements, overloading of the tendon, poor biomechanics, or inadequate recovery between activities.

Seeking guidance from a healthcare professional is crucial if you suspect either of these injuries. A qualified professional can provide an accurate diagnosis and develop a personalized rehabilitation plan to facilitate optimal recovery and minimize the risk of further injury.

Remember, early intervention and appropriate management are key to getting back on track and returning to your activities safely and efficiently. 💪🏼
