The final countdown is upon us. What a year! Not all bad but not all good either. I’m hanging onto the highs and happiness that helped push through this year, but I am definitely looking forward to better times in 2024.

Some holiday bookings have started trickling in which I am super excited about. Even though I’m not offering branding work at the moment (this may open up again in the new year), I do have one branding project that I’m working on and it’s a very exciting, fun, colourful and sunshine’y good vibin type a project. This one will be keeping me busy while I’m on the Torquay shores with the sound of the waves crashing behind me.

88% of consumers are less likely to return to a site after a bad experience. Don't fall into that statistic. Here are some tips to follow if you are looking to DIY:

🍋: Keep your text clear and readable. Stay away from Script! In general, a font should be 12-16pt on a mobile screen, 15-19pt on a tablet, and 16-20pt on a desktop computer screen.

🍋: Publish Fresh, Engaging, & Super Useful Content. Don't add content just to fill the pages.

🍋: Make Sure Your Website Loads Fast. Resize images to encourage faster loading time. If you are using videos on your website, try to minimise the overuse of images where possible.

🍋: Add a Clear Call-to-Action. Add buttons to your sections leading customers to where they can access your services or how you can solve their problem.

🍋: offer a freebie! It can be something small, something big but make it useful and worthy of a click and download.

WEBSITE + BRANDING

The BloorMill Veterinary Hospital is a modern, full-service, companion animal hospital located in the beautiful city of Etobicoke based in Toronto, Canada. My client needed a full redo of their current website & logo and Squarespace was our chosen platform for this project.

A warm, loving and caring feel is what the brief entailed and I really do think this was achieved by incorporating the lilac as a base colour. A brand guide, logo and website is what this project consisted of and I am so happy to see my work come to life and the transition from the before and after.

A fun little design for a pottery studio that required a logo and social media identity. I used a chunky font to represent the clay and rough textures and love the playfulness this gives to the look and feel of the design.

A little shameless plug for a Friday afternoon. I don't think a graphic designer will ever feel fully satisfied with their own website and I know so many of those in my industry feel the same. We will always add on features, add new portfolios & update information.

In saying that, much with everything else in life and this year so far - less is more and that is the theme I adopted for my new website. Instead of overloading the site with information and bio's that most people wouldn't really be interested in… I made it more visually appealing and stuck to the most important information under all the services I offer. It is more intentional, more responsive and keeps people more engaged. No annoying pop-up's either!

Hopefully, I'll be able to adopt the same approach for all site developments moving forward and that users and clients will see the benefit in this approach. It also leaves more reason for people to engage with you and start a conversation.

BRANDING + WEB DESIGN

For the moment, I'm only sharing the branding for this project as we are still in the final stages of their website development. Based in Canada, this client runs a veterinary clinic well known and recognised for their professionalism, kindness and nurturing nature for all animals big or small, that are placed in their care.

Fresh, sincere, approachable, caring and loving were some of the keywords noted in the brand strategy phase and that's the colour palette we needed to incorporate which I think I nailed. The logo evolved from a few concepts and it was a collaboration between the client and myself eventuating in the attached. It's fun, memorable and gives a feel of what's on offer with the icons incorporated into the wording.

I'll share more once I have handed over their new website where I will also show some before and after's.

Today is definitely one of those "sit under the duvet cover with your laptop and catch up with work" kinda days. After a successful client meeting this morning and ticking a few things off my to-do list, it has been good to sit in my little bubble and work through a solid chunk of outstanding projects and onboard some new clients. Between working in my corporate job and still running my business on the side, I finally feel as though I have created a good balance between both. It has taken many months but I am so happy I persevered. ​​​​​​​​

With that, today I am sharing a logo design created for Thankful Rituals, that oozes elegance and simplicity and contributes to the calming, caring, kind and nurturing feel of the lovely gift boxes curated by TF Rituals.

It's a bit busy around here with a lot of businesses looking to make their stamp in the digital world. I have a couple of website designs that are in finalisation phase and 2 branding projects in the design phase which I am super excited to share in the coming weeks. I revisited this website design that I did for Peche a few months ago as a few of my queries have been based on the simplicity and layout of this site - (yay!) and so I wanted to showcase it again! Beautiful images supplied by and a completed word document with all copy for the site, made this project quick, stress free and a breeze to design. ​​​​​​​​

The brief was to design a calm and welcoming logo with additional elements and the client really wanted to incorporate the feather into all the elements too. The feather was a symbol she carried with her when opening her business and it has flowed with her throughout all the growth she has welcomed. A pure feeling of gentleness, warmth, harmony and trust for this gorgeous brand specialising in Hypnobirthing and based in Belgium.
