During a number of equipment audits undertaken over the past couple of weeks, we have step onto the surface of Mars on several occasions (and left footprints behind to prove it… unlike that landing on the other planet 🌑😊😛).

Some truly disappointing findings lately 😡!!! It’s incredible the mess and the damage that red 🔴 rope dust causes!!!

You know when you go to the beach 🏖 and after you get home, you still find sand in places you never expected to?!?!? Multiple that by about 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ and replace “sand” with “red 🔴 rope dust”!!!

Don’t kid yourself!

Rusted ropes in this condition ARE NOT STILL MAINTAINABLE. Seeing so much rouge spread beyond Machine Rooms, car tops, throughout liftwells, tops of counterweights, across car door equipment and landing door headers and locks, as well as being sucked into the hoisting machine cooling fans, and basically everywhere else in-between is bloody frustrating and unacceptable 😡🔴😡

Replace the ropes!!!

The additional cost 💰 to your organisation in additional call outs, additional equipment downtime, replacement of other components, reduction in the longevity of equipment, and overall Client dissatisfaction shall cost you much more in the long run than replacing the ropes!

Trust me 😡😮👎

P.S. Independent Vertical Transportation Audits Bloody Work ✍️

Here's a bit of a scary find from an Escalator audit yesterday 👟 ... (and I'm not even referring to that wild accumulation of gunk and the potential fire hazard 🔥).

Included below are some links to some previous LinkedInposts which may be of interest, in relation to a product which is retrofitted to Escalator steps and greatly reduces the risk of soft sole shoe entrapments by changing and improving the friction coherent.

These safety decals are vacuum formed to specifically suit the profile of the brand of Escalator step, and apart from improving safety, have the added bonus of being able to be fully customised to include specific safety messages, or graphics for marketing campaigns.

By the way, this product has also been extensively been tested by Karsten Kambach's team at the Escalator TK Elevator HQ in Hamburg, under various testing scenarios, in fact, TKE Escalators supply and fit a step decal safety pack to all Escalators ordered through their Hamburgh manufacturing plant in order to maximise safety, and safety awareness, for the riding public!

Another wonderful evening yesterday spent with the LML Lift Consultants family outside of work, navigating our way through some more Trivia at 8 Track Brewery!!! 🍻🍷 ✋

Such a great bunch of humans to work alongside of, but also very cool people to spend time with outside of work and relax, chat and hug a little!!! 🤣🤗

These amazing people are our point of difference, the very same people that landed us a position on the podium!!! 🏆

Yes, that's right! We are pleased to announce that on this occasion finished in 2nd 🥈 place! If we only had a couple of Lift or Escalator related questions, we would've nailed it 😉!!!

BLOODY FLAWLESS!

We’ve literally done 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣’s of equipment audits 📝over the years, these really are our bread 🍞 and butter and all we can do it call things as we see them 👀🔍

So, here’s a fine example of a site which is being maintained to a very high standard and a Technician who obviously takes a great amount of pride in what they do 🛠

In fact, not a single shortcoming was identified following a thorough examination of the installation!

So, a BIG SHOUT OUT and big KUDOS to MOTION ELEVATORS on doing some great maintenance! This particular Client is wrapped in general having their original hydraulic equipment recently replaced with these Machine-Room-Less (MRL) Lifts you see in the photos.

BIG SHOUT OUT to not only this particular Technician, but also all the Technicians across the 🌎 doing great things and making a difference out there! We salute you!!!

When you love ❤️ what you do and take pride in your work, it shows!

Leah has been such a wonderful addition to our team in the Projects area, working alongside our Senior Project Managers, and bringing along with her so many fresh ideas (plus bloody handy at our trivia nights just saying 😊).

Leah is a Mechanical Engineer, with an Arts Major (Philosophy and Bioethics) and has undertaken some really interesting projects during her time at Uni, including the design of a total artificial heart pump and ethics of artificial intelligence in medicine.

It’s been so wonderful to add such an enthusiastic young Engineer in amongst our experienced team… we shall all continue to learn and grow from one another, together!!!

So, Happy Birthday 🎂 Leah… keep on being amazing! We are blessed to have you in the LML family!!!

NEWS FLASH - WORK ANNIVERSARY FOR THIS INDUSTRY LEGEND!

Ian Flannery = 5️⃣ YEARS 🎉🎆🎇✨

Today we celebrate Ian's 5️⃣th Work Anniversary (and his awesomeness in general)!!!

Ian is just a super passionate guy and has played such a bit part in the growth and success of LML Lift Consultants to date, "with plenty more years to come"... in his words!

Ian can often be found in his "happy place", that is, on top of a Lift car, or inside a liftwell or Machine Room, which is good news given that he has spent so many years working on the tools in the field!

He is also passionate about training and has undertaken many a technical training session at LML HQ in the interactive Training Facility in the Vertical Ambition space.

In terms of Ian's amazing journey in the industry to date, he has racked up more than 4️⃣0️⃣ years of industry experience, having initially served an Apprenticeship with Precision Elevators in 1982, before spending a number of years installing, commissioning and testing Lifts at both Schindler Group and KONE, across many major projects.

Before joining LML Lift Consultants, Ian was the Technical Service and Training Manager at KONE and their Technical Service Team Leader and Field Trainer. There's not a lot he doesn't know about their gear!

Ian's overall level of expertise is truly impressive and our Clients benefit from this, and his practical customer focused advice.

We are very lucky to have Ian as part of our team!

Wow! 11 Years already! Can that be right?!?!? As they say, time flies when you're having fun!

So, on this day 11 Years ago Dean Morgan (my friend and colleague back then, now business partner and friend) and myself resigned from our significant roles with a global Elevator manufacturer.

I just wanted to reshare a previous post of mine, with some added thoughts and comments, if I may.

So, the approximate backstory and journey goes something like this…

11 years ago, I had myself a significant role, working in the modernisation department of a global Elevator manufacturer, which I actually really enjoyed and was thankful for, as it allowed me to provide for my young family and predictably paid me a wage on a monthly basis.

Back then, Dean, my now business partner, was also in a similar situation, albeit his kids were a little older. He was a highly regarded long-term member of the industry and was working as a National Business Development Manager within the same organisation, at that point in time.

So, here we were, 11 years ago, Dean and myself, sheepishly enroute to the Managing Director's office, about to jointly tender our resignations.

Then, 11 years ago + 1 day, both Dean and I went from being single income housholds, to becoming "zero" income households, and I know that I for one had a voice in the back of my head questioning just how I would be able to support my wife and 3 kids, pay the mortgage, as well as meet all the other financial commitments?!?! I know Dean had similar concerns at the time as well.

That "questioning voice" was rather loud and distracting initially and I had to learn to drown it out over time with the "other voice" in my head, the one that initially convinced me that I, and we, can actually "do this".

Truth be known, it was, and of course still is, bloody hard work! It involved (and still does) long, long, long hours, days with no time to eat, sleepless nights where you find yourself leaping out of bed thinking about projects, reports and "whether I responded to that email?"... I'm sure there are many people who can relate to this.
Throughout the course of the journey, the process has always involved trying to somehow (the best way possible) balance work commitments with family commitments and trying to be a good Dad and husband. During the running around of kids on weekends (much smaller back then, still doing it though) you were still aware that at some point in time there'd likely be the need to "log in" and finish work stuff, after everyone goes to bed, because “your day doesn't always finish”.

Knowing now, what I didn't know then, had you have asked me if I could do it again.... well, I'm not actually even sure from where exactly I found the energy required! But moving forward from that point to today, I definitely still have that same fire in my belly, the desire to truly make a difference, wanting to do things differently (and hopefully better than the way the others do it, or have done it in the past). I also still enjoy the challenge, the fact that there are new things learnt each and every day, whilst still attempting to try and be the best role model I possibly can to my children, as well as the obvious one... the fulfilment of assisting our Clients and providing them with the best possible service and access to some amazingly, talented (and really nice) people.

I'm ever so thankful to have found Dean to share this journey and experience with and couldn't have gone through it alone, and nor would I want to. We've laughed, on occasion cried, hugged it out, and also needed to administer the occasionally ale to drown out the emotion after a long week. Dean and I understand one another and how full on this gig can actually get at times... we've never had an argument, or disagreement in 11 years (and actually longer than that). We love what we do!!!

Happy to say that I never gave up on myself... life always has a habit of throwing some of those moments in our directions.
Blessed to have developed such an amazing team of kind humans... highly dedicated and motivated, and just really good people that look out for one another!

In amongst our team of Consultants, there's a serious amount of technical 'hands-on' expertise and real know-how! The LML team of Consultants now bring together a combined 475+ years of industry experience! These guys are the real deal "Lifties" that have never done anything other than Vertical Transportation! In addition, we also have some Mechanical Engineers in the mix and Design Practitioners, with all of us extremely well supported by an amazing national Administration Team, who just keep going above and beyond!

- Implementation of Apps and various other technologies (site and office based), - Continuous improvement of documents ('live' documents), - Interactive documents, faster delivery of Reports, - Cloud based data / photographic records, - Implementation of interactive Vertical Ambition Training Centre, with a number of Destination Control System (DCS) simulators (Schindler PORT, OTIS Compass 360 Plus, KONE Polaris), Pixel Technologies displays, various emergency communication systems (EmPhone, 2N), operating door systems (Wittur, Langer & Laumann), fully functioning Wittur Lift system, operating mini-MRL, speed governors, controller etc. etc. etc. - Various training courses developed for Apprentices, Facilities Managers, Owner's Corporation Managers, Work Experience Students, Salespeople or staff new to the industry. - Elevator museum, - Client Portal, - Independent Management of VT portfolio services, - Attendance at InterLift, World Elevator Expo, other Expos, as well as various test towers around the world (Dubai, Singapore, China, Germany, Switzerland) to be across latest advancements in technologies, - Annual safety days / team bonding days / 'improvement' sessions.
We are on a constant journey, always on the look-out for ways in which we improve what we do, what we deliver, and how to make life better for our Clients (in the VT sense).

ANOTHER FANTASTIC TRAINING SESSION WITH THE TEAM FROM CBRE 📝

It was an absolute pleasure to have the team in from CBRE in the Vertical Ambition Training Centre, at LML Lift Consultants HQ this morning!!!

We had another wonderful and interactive session with the professional team of Facilities Managers from CBRE, for some LML Lift Consultants training, specifically designed for those managing Vertical Transportation assets.

The Vertical Ambition Training Centre has a number of Destination Control System (DCS) simulators, including the Schindler PORT, Otis Compass 360 Plus, KONE Polaris, as well as a number of Pixel Technologies products, Lift Displays and Pixel Technologies and 2N emergency communication systems.

It's also always nice to show visitors some Lift 🛗 history in our growing collectables museum, demonstrate our fully operational Wittur Lift system (E-Pack integrated Controller with E-Pack Variable Frequency drive unit), which drives a Wittur hoisting machine (incorporating a LML Lift Consultants Car Operating Panel with landing fixtures). Our fully functioning scale model of a Machine-Room-Less (MRL) Lift, and additional Wittur door systems are also all very cool for training purposes!

Moving Walk Handover ☑️

The full in-truss modernisation project at Grand Central Shopping Centre, Toowoomba, Queensland has been completed on the first pair of Moving Walks (MW1️⃣0️⃣ & MW1️⃣2️⃣) for QIC.

These Moving Walks have been tested and verified this morning by LML Lift Consultants and MW1️⃣2️⃣ has already been returned to service, with MW1️⃣0️⃣ to follow in the coming days, before the second pair of Moving Walks are modernised.

The Schindler Group QLD Modernisation Team did a great job on site 🍾

4️⃣ KONE TMS 516 Geared Lifts fully upgraded ➡ KONE Gearless LCE, comprising of 1️⃣ Goods/Passenger Lift servicing 9️⃣ levels and 3️⃣ Passenger Lifts servicing 8️⃣ levels (2️⃣ of which are Atrium Lifts).

Brief Scope of Upgrade: -

Provision of new microprocessor-based Lift control systems in Machine Room, inclusive of new liftwell signalling, load weighing devices and trailing flexes ☑️ New Variable Frequency (VF) drive units with regenerative capability ☑️ New AC gearless hoisting machines and ropes ☑️ New roller guide systems on the Lift cars and counterweights ☑️ Provision of all Risk Control and Lift Code compliance works Code Compliance works ☑️ New Interiors ☑️

The KONE Modernisation Team did a great job and were very accommodating on site, taking into careful consideration the area around the Atrium Lifts to prevent the potential of fall objects and protecting the public. Much of the Atrium Lift upgrade works was undertaken after-hours behind a securely barricaded area.

So, HUGE shout out 💪 to the entire team involved in this project, the KONE MOD Team, including James Bodley, Rory Biundo and Travis Noe, along with our LML Lift Consultants Project Team Sam Trifiletti, Joshua Chong Wee Loon and Leah Martínez! It is because of your expertise and commitment that we have been able to achieve such a great outcome together! ⭐⭐⭐.

Funnily enough we also sang… “Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you Jo, Happy Birthday to you” ...and ate cake 🎂 🍰 (home made by Sheridan Thomas) Yes, we are very traditional! 😊

Jo plays a big part in getting defect items closed out, as identified in our Schedule of Corrective Works, chairing meetings with Clients and the various Lift Contractors, plus 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ other things!

WORK ANNIVERSARY – Sam Trifiletti (MBA)

Wow! 2️⃣ Years already… with many more to come!

Sam is such a pivotal part of our Projects Team, focusing closely on matters of compliance and in the handing over of high-quality modernisation / replacement projects to our Clients.

He holds a Design Practitioners Act Vertical Transportation (DPVT) qualification and is assisting Western Sydney University to develop course materials for the proposed Graduate Certificate in Vertical Transportation, being developed in consultation with the NSW Office of the Building Commissioner.

Prior to joining LML Lift Consultants, Sam worked for KONE Elevators and Otis Elevator Co. in various branch and National based roles, across
various departments including sales, maintenance, new installation and
modernisation, as well as being responsible for the commissioning and testing of equipment.

He also has many years of experience in the Training, Quality and Safety Management areas, which has been extremely useful during the further expansion of the Vertical Ambition training facility at LML HQ.

Sam’s technical expertise and extensive industry experience really is next level, and he has complimented the team so well!

Today we congratulate and celebrate Sam on 2️⃣ Years with LML!
