In September 1920, Igor Stravinsky's move to France marked a turning point to set the foundation for his enduring collaboration with George Balanchine and paving the way for remarkable works like Jewels.
During his time in France, Stravinsky composed Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra, the music for the Rubies section of Jewels.
