If you’d like to take a look at the scientific evidence I’ve taken into consideration when deciding what supplements to take to help my son and I function at our best, comment YES PLEASE below and I’ll send it to you in a DM.
But please remember, everyone is different and you should always consult your doctor before taking supplements.

Love this sentiment so much! Story of my life right there in one sentence.
I announced my ADHD diagnosis on good ol' Facebook and then in Mamamia .
I’ve lost count of how many women have thanked me for that
Thx so much for sharing Kristy Forbes - Autism & ND Support Ann Voskamp 😘😘😘
Description: Tile reads, shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces, Ann Voskamp.
This is accurate! Our brain physiology is what Dr Hallowell is taking about. It’s not just a cute saying. 🏎️
It’s the job of MOST of our brain cells to stop things from happening! (Like 80% according to one very well-respected expert). They inhibit activity. When they're not working properly we don't have brakes
Too much activity, too much sensory input, too much being the focus of our attention, too much emotional intensity, are the result - for a start. 😮
What does ADHD make your brain do too much of?
A rock-solid sense of self-worth is what follows having more understanding of your brain - you no longer feel anywhere near as much shame.
My clients are a testament to this every day. 💛
Soooooo, here’s a heads up that we’re announcing dates to The Ultimate ADHD Reboot, our signature group learning experience any second now.
If you don’t want to miss out on a limited early bird spot, jump on the waitlist pronto from my bio and be the first to hear.
(Don’t let indecision stop you making the first step towards impenetrable self-worth!! Click that little link in my bio right now!)
And if anyone tells you you’re too much, perhaps reply with something like “Funny you should say that, because my brain is actually wired so that the ‘brakes’ - on a cellular level - don’t work as well so too much is happening all the time… If it’s hard work for you, imagine what it’s like for me! A little bit of understanding wouldn’t go astray…”
Most importantly, if you’re too much for someone, either they’re not your people, or they need to learn more about ADHD. (There’s a tonne of info about it on my website so send them there! 🤩)
Much love,
Suse

Oh what a joy life would be…
What's your fantasy?
Description: Pale blue tile that reads, If you’re a mum with ADHD, which one of these scenarios makes your heart sing the most? Next to the copy is a heart and some music notes. Below it says, A) Getting the kids to school on time in a cool calm and collected manner. B)Going a whole week without a family member losing a piece of clothing. C) Remembering every day your kid needs cash at school (I mean, WTF!?). Or share your fantasy in the comments.
Supporting kids with different brains is not easy in our education system. But our incredible school somehow manages to do it beautifully despite there being a number of kids with additional needs.
I do not know HOW they do it! It’s truly phenomenal and we are SOOOO grateful! 💛
(Geepers it would have been nice to have been appreciated like this!! I just got into trouble constantly! Can you relate?)
And while we’re here, let’s take a moment to call out the absolute BS that autistic and ADHD peeps are not empathetic!!!
What cracks me up is that all the ‘scales’ used in research to measure empathy are based on how you SHOW empathy and don’t even consider whether you feel it. And, of course, the creators of them failed to consider that perhaps different groups of people show empathy differently.
When my boy was just two he would say “the froggy wants to hop!” and get distressed when he saw a picture of a crocodile with a frog in it’s mouth in a book I read him.
I mean, what a complete lack of empathy that is, right?! Seriously. Anyhoo. You have to laugh at the absurdness of it. 😂😂😘
Description: Pale blue tile reads, massive shoutout to teachers who support our ADHD/autistic kids! To the right is a text message says, ah he’s such a light beam, he always shines so bright. Below reads, n a rare moment when kids at school were really unkind to my autistic/ADHD kiddo, his compassion for them was met by this beautiful message from his teacher. The ZERO tolerance to bullying that his school showed was so on point that it ended up being a positive experience. The boys displayed real remorse and in the end, new connections were formed!! So, so grateful!
Sadly - especially considering we’ve gone so much longer than males without treatment and support - research confirms that this is 100% true.
A substantial amount of research consistently shows that women and girls with ADHD are likely to have a more distressing experience of ADHD than males.
This literally makes me teary... So many years of my life were characterised by despair. And so many women and girls are still experiencing crazy levels of distress. I see it every day.
It is truly heart-breaking. 💔
Praying hard that change is coming and this won’t be the case in years to come!
(And that’s not to say it’s not tough on males either! But it’s clear that many more males cope better than we do on average).
As always, hit me up for the research. 👩🏫
Description: Pale blue tile with colourful circles that reads, ADHD has a bigger impact on women and girls than boys and men. True or false? Here’s a clue then a graphic of a broken heart.
So clearly a beautiful soul with ADHD! 😊💛
Did you know it’s (loosely) based on a memoir of a real woman?
Who else clearly had ADHD and were a beautiful person for precisely this reason?
Description: Pale blue tile with an image of Maria from The Sound of Music spinning with mountains in the background. It reads, ADHD poster girl? How do you solve a problem like Maria? You don’t! You understand her ways, love and accept her and WATCH HER MOVES MOUNTAINS. Next to a tick says, ingenious (those clothes from the curtains!), drives people batty but they love her, creative, passionate, honest to a (supposed) fault, always running late & fair. Can you think of any other legends who clearly have ADHD?
I can’t imagine imagery that depicts my role as an ADHD Coach better than this !🐢🩷
All I do really is give people the nudge they need to flip their story.
And that nudge is mainly simply feeling validated combined with understanding ADHD so much better so that you can start to see how amazing you are to have done so well with all you were up against, and what you need to put in place so you can thrive!
Did I mention there are free accountability sessions and other opportunities for community and connection as well? 😉🤔
If you’d like to explore coaching, you can suss out my style by scheduling a zoom chat at a time that suits you from this link https://lilowellnessbookings.as.me/?appointmentType=28803202
BC. Before children. Oh how my life has changed…
What do you think? Do you think there would be a higher proportion of peeps with ADHD at festivals like Burning Man?
I am so sure there would be though I do also know some very conservative ones. It’s so fascinating how we tend to hang out together! But we are so, so very different as well!
What’s your experience of differences and similarities?
Description: An image of Susie in a silver bodysuit dancing wearing a sparkly hat in the middle of a festival in the desert. Above her reads, me back in the day…Oh how life has changed! Below her is a thought bubble that says, I wonder how many people at Burning Man have ADHD?
ADHD brains are only slightly different to regular brains, however, they are slightly different in many areas.
AND, the connectivity between the areas - the signals that enable the different areas of the brain to communicate with one another - don’t work as effectively.
The outcome? Essentially, the brain’s self management system doesn’t work as well as most - which is why we struggle with self management!
Comment below is there are questions you’d like me to try to answer about ADHD.

Description: Pale blue tile with colourful circles and a graphic of a brain, below it reads three things about the ADHD brain I bet you didn’t know, . Tile two says, one: it appears that one of the main areas of the brain impacted by ADHD is the Caudate Nucleus. It’s role? To decide on the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING that we should pay attention to at any given moment. Tile three reads, two: while ADHD mainly impacts the prefrontal cortex of the brain, the area behind our forehead, IT IMPACTS MORE THAN 10 AREAS including structures important for memory, habits & managing emotions, and the connectivity between these. Tile four says, three: The majority of neurons in the brain are INHIBITORY in nature. So the reason we have an overactive mind and difficulty controlling impulses is due to the UNDERACTIVITY of certain neural pathways whose job it is to STOP things from happening. Tile five reads, to learn more check out the free resources in the be kind to your mind section of the Lilo Wellness website, link in bio. Tile six says, NOW GO ON, SEND THIS TO A LOVED ONE! Description: A pale blue tile with colourful circles reads, if you have ADHD the chances are you need to read this…When you fully appreciate the pervasiveness of the impact of ADHD across every area of your functioning and your life, you can start to see the truth -THAT YOU ARE AMAZING to have achieved what you have with what you’ve been up against. Then you can start to feel good about who you are instead of s**t about the things you struggle with!
There’s more!
My car is clean.
The house is clean.
I’ve blow dried my hair.
I’ve epilated.
I’ve filed my heels.
I’ve done food prep for the week.
I’ve done the laundry.
I've cleaned the windows (NOT!)
AND, now this is rare… I've had the carpet steam cleaned.
(Notice how the oven is not mentioned? I have never managed to clean an oven… Anyone?)
I know it’s a fantasy. I wonder if neurotypical people get off on this stuff? I get close sometimes, but it’s a VERY tall order…
Speaking of order, when there’s chaos in your head, it’s perfectly reasonable to want order. It makes me be able to function So. Much. Better.
People like to cast judgement that wanting things to be orderly is controlling, but being controlling is about people, not your environment. So if having things a certain way floats your boat. Don’t you worry about what others think or say!
And I tell you, when I manage to get these ducks in a row (like twice in my life…) I feel like I could conquer the WORLD!
What lights your fire?? Please share. 😘
If you want a hand to get your ducks in a row, let’s jump on a call and you can pick my brain about my signature coaching program.

This!!! ADHD Chatter Podcast
The best ADHD medication, of course, depends on the person - but the evidence clearly shows that for the vast majority of us, stimulants - in other words medications with the active ingredients methylphenidate or dexamphetamine - manage ADHD symptoms best.
However, sometimes emotion regulation isn’t reduced as much as some of the other symptoms by stimulant medication and thankfully, there are other evidence-based ADHD medications that many people also find helpful.
A lot of people find that one in particular can be helpful for emotion regulation. These are called ‘alpha-agonists’ and include clonidine and guanfacine.
FYI, where great symptom management isn’t straight forward, some fin that combining medications is effective.
Please remember everyone is different and medication is not the be all and end all for management of ADHD. Finally, this is for info purposes only, always take medication as prescribed by your doctor!
Question: What medication helps you most? 🤔
ADHD used to mess with my relationships so much that I very nearly didn't become a mum. I had my boy solo at the 11th hour.
And what a boy he is! How freaking lucky am I??? 💛💛💛
To all the mums - and even the non-mums - with ADHD, are you looking after your needs???
We SO often don’t in the interest of not disappointing others, combined with gender-based roles and societal expectations…
YOU deserve to function at your very best, not just your kids! And you can start the journey to looking after your needs, not just everyone else’s, by doing our FREE 10 minute workshop.
You’ll learn about executive functions - and finally understand why you find some things really challenging - AND how to make sure your medication is optimised.
If this sounds good, click here https://lilowellness.com.au/check-up-and-reset-workshop/
So much love to you all on this special day for some, and terribly sad day for others.
Am pinching myself and giving thanks every day and I NEVER take being a mum for granted!!! ✨😘😘😘
What would you add to this list? Please comment! I’d love to know. 🙏🏼
And then SEND THIS TO YOUR LOVED ONES! 🌈

Description: Pale blue tile with colourful circles that reads, my take on supporting loved ones with atypical brains. Hint: it can be bloody hard work and we’re not always fine when we seem fine. Below is a graphic of three women holding hands. Tile two reads check-in with them, If you really want to know how someone’s doing, don’t ask “How are you?” ask RUOK? (There’s a reason there’s a day for this!). Tile three reads, don’t judge. Don’t jump to conclusions and make assumptions about what’s going on for them. Remember you only see part of the story. This is super important with parenting & health issues (which are common!) Tile four reads, offer a hand. If you want to help, instead of offering to do what you think will be helpful, ask this simple question “How can I help?”It’s the only way to be sure you will be helpful. Don’t assume they’re okay if they seem fine. When they’re not, they’ll likely make excuses. Tile five reads, Whenever possible, consider their needs if you’re organising events or outings. If you’re not sure how to, ASK! The sixth tile reads, NOW GO ON, SEND THIS TO A LOVED ONE!For more reflections like these, check out the community:For Women* with ADHD who Refuse to Be Held Back. If you have ADHD, or a different brain of any variety, my guess is this will speak to you!
When we understand our brains, and in doing so, our challenges - AND OUR STRENGTHS - we can start living a life in which we’re no longer being fish trying to climb trees! And then we can truly thrive!
Suss out the many ways I can do so from this link: https://lilowellness.com.au/adhd-101/
Description: A pale blue tile with colourful dots, on the right is a tree with a ladder against it and below isa pink fish swimming in the water. It reads, everybody is a genius but if you judge a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree, it will live it’s whole life believing that it is stupid. - Unknown.
