The August Program for CLIP 2024 has now drawn to close and what a fantastic experience it has been! Full of valuable sessions with guest speakers, court observations and hands-on learning. Well done to all of our CLIP participants who put their all into this program, achieved so much and gained some insightful perspectives into our industry.

In one of the sessions our CLIP participants took part in a mock advocacy session hosted by Theodore Chrisant and Himangi Ticku. The participants were able to analyse mock materials and actively workshop concepts before presenting to the group what they have learnt. This was fantastic opportunity for our participants to engage in a hands-on experience by applying themselves and their knowledge.

Our CLIP interns thoroughly enjoyed their Perspectives from the Industry Q&A session yesterday. The Q&A session with Jarrod Behan and Caitlin Reed provided insights on what criminal law practice looks like in regional and suburban areas.

As part of our internship, we aim to provide industry insights into the different styles of practice available in criminal law, including opportunities (and often the lifestyle benefits) of practicing law outside of the Melbourne court precinct.

A fantastic start to the August Program on CLIP 2024. Day one commenced with a full schedule packed full of learning, law and laughter. 🚀

Day two today commences with an advocacy workshop, followed by an opportunity to put their skills to the test in a mock plea, a barrister Q&A session and then preparing for a committal hearing tomorrow!

Thank you to Dr Adam Deacon for providing a really insightful CPD training session last week on how we can best advocate for our clients with serious mental health issues.

Dr Deacon regularly assesses our clients for their fitness to stand trial and mental impairment defences. This seminar focused on strategies our lawyers can adopt to best support our unwell clients during legal proceedings, as well as strategic advice in preparing for mental impairment and fitness trials.

Some memorable moments from our June Intensive of CLIP 2024 💙🤍

Our CLIP Interns had the ability to showcase their learnings in a hands on mock practical. In this session they received some valuable teachings from Jervis Dean and Himangi Ticku of the ETL team.

This was followed by a Q&A session with Sai Ranjit and Mihal Greener who provided their key insights into the life of a barrister through experiences from their career.
