MHP had the pleasure of engaging with students from William Cooper Institute and helping them enhance their knowledge of Aerodynamics which plays an important role in our bike dynamics and efficiency.
Last Saturday, our riders participated at the Victorian HPV Grand Prix Round 3. Despite the harsh conditions, our riders were able to give their best effort in completing the race successfully.
MHP is delighted to announce a partnership with Gelteq.
With our recent venture into the Victorian Human Powered Grand Prix Series, nutrition becomes crucial for maximizing our riders' performance in endurance trike racing. With events lasting 6-8 hours, our athletes require optimal fueling.
Gelteq, an innovative medical technology company and producer of specialized energy gels, will be providing our team with unique, nutrient-rich performance gels tailored to our riders' needs, ensuring they achieve peak performance. Just as energy gels are essential for elite endurance athletes, evidenced by their critical role in the recently concluded , they will be vital for our team as well.
Partnerships like these are invaluable, providing our team with access to expertise and resources that help us push the boundaries of human performance and engineering design.
The next race in the Victorian Human Powered Grand Prix Series will be a 7-hour event on July 27th at Sandown Racecourse. We look forward to seeing what the team can achieve!
Applications close in 7 days. Head to the link in our bio to join our team now!!
MHP had the pleasure to run the CAD workshop in which we demonstrated the usefulness and the capabilities of CAD software and its uses in the industry to the members of Monash Engineering Girls. Our members also had the pleasure of sitting in a panel and sharing their experiences of being a female engineer.
MHP is recruiting new members!!! Check out our bio for more details and application form 😎
Check out our members getting busy during the Winter break!

Our team ran an upskilling session for 3D printing techniques and tips which were tailored specifically to enhance our members' proficiency in developing innovative new bikes.
Yesterday was International Women in Engineering Day, we celebrated the incredible women engineers who inspire us every day with their dedication, innovation, and leadership.
Last Saturday, our team raced Bandicoot in Round 2 of the Victorian HPV Grand Prix Series. Four of our eight riders were Female and they had an outstanding performance on the track. We will have another race in July! We will keep you up to posted!
Last Saturday, Monash Human Power gathered for our mid-year technical presentations, which play a critical role in assessing the development progress of our next speed bike (V4). We were fortunate to have many alumni in attendance, offering valuable assistance and guidance on the direction of V4's development.
We extend our gratitude to all who attended; these presentations truly serve as the backbone of any successful design cycle.
Earlier this year, we took a leap and dipped our toe into the world of endurance tricycle racing with the Victorian HPV Grand Prix Series! It was a whole new experience for our team and riders, presenting engineering challenges distinct from those of our speed bikes
This Saturday, we’re thrilled to be taking out our trusty second-hand trike - Bandicoot, on its second race of the season at Calder Park Thunderdome! More than anything, we’re excited to be part of the vibrant local HPV community and can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us in the coming year!
Knowledge transfer and retention plays a critical role in student teams like ours. As such, maintaining skills, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), amongst our members is invaluable.
We had a little Easter egg hunt around the workshop in our Full Team Meeting today! Hope everyone had a good Easter break!
Happy Easter from MHP!
On International Women’s Day today, we celebrate and recognise the women who have played influential roles in our team, past and present. The team’s success would not be possible without some of the women who have led and pushed our team forward into what it is today. Notably, we were proud to enter the Community Mixed category for the Victorian HPV Grand Prix Series with Rianna and Jess being two of our competing riders on Saturday!
Last Saturday, our team raced our Trike in Round 1 of the Victorian HPV Grand Prix Series. It was an amazing event and we placed sixth overall in our category with 102 laps completed. There are alot of learnings we will take away from this event and we will try and improve for the next race in May!
We’ve got something new coming 👀
Last year we decided 2024 was to be a year of firsts for the team with our plan to expand into tricycle racing alongside our speed bike mission, starting with entering in the 2024 Victorian HPV Grand Prix Series! This is an endurance wheel to wheel racing event in which HPV’s race around a circuit for typically 6-8 hours. This is a super exciting event filled with new design requirements and interesting engineering challenges completely different to our speed bikes. We’re excited to eventually fully design and manufacture our own trike, however, for the time being, we wanted to get on track as soon as possible and learn about the event.
We’ll be taking our second-hand trike, Bandicoot, to the first race of the series this Saturday at Casey Fields. More than anything, we’re excited to be joining the local HPV community and can’t wait to see where this endeavour takes us in the coming years!
Take us back when Bilby visited the Legion of Honour in San Francisco 🏛️ Good luck to everyone as we come to the first week of Semester 1 2024! A reminder that our recruitment is open until the 3rd of March. Apply now here: https://forms.gle/NEuNmihBLYv85oPB8
Thank you all for coming to our stall on Monday and Wednesday. Just a reminder that our recruitment for Operations and Rider Development positions will be open until the 3rd of March 😎 Join us on our journey to break the International Human Powered Land Speed Record.
Our Operations 📸 and Rider Development 🚴♂️ subteams are now recruiting for new members! Check out our bio for more details and the application form!
Our Operations sub-team plays a critical role in the team’s success and as such we’re aiming to expand our team with more positions and opportunities for Engineering students (especially those earlier in their degree). In our team it is also possible to swap to a more technical sub-team at a later date. Applications will be opened at the start of O-week!
At our recent full team meeting in the Monash Generator we tested our knowledge of the different parts of Bilby with a little game. How many parts can you guess correctly? 🔨
Last Sunday one of our members ran a workshop covering the fundamentals of designing a fast and safe high performing human powered vehicle. Workshops like these help ensure the team is constantly improving its understanding of what makes a fast human powered vehicle. 😎
🚴🏼♂️ Robogals’ Engage Engineer Outreach Event 💨 Had lots of fun teaching future engineers about how we use aerodynamics to achieve speeds as fast as 116.39km/h!
As 2023 comes to an end, we reflect on a year of breaking records and how far the team has come in its lifetime. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us and helped us achieve our moonshot goals. Looking forward to seeing what the new year brings! 🎇

Our Team
Monash Human Power is a student-led engineering team at Monash University. We are building a fully-faired human powered vehicle to push the limits of human speed and break the current world speed record of 144km/h set in Battle Mountain, Nevada.
Our journey started off as an engineering Final Year Project in 2014 and in 2016, we became the Monash Human Power team. Since then, we have grown to 50 members in a number of diverse roles throughout the team.
Our bike is a specially designed recumbent bicycle housed in a fairing to reduce aerodynamic drag. Each major component of the bike was designed and manufactured to meet a range of criteria and act as functional part of the bike to help our rider achieve top speed.
