There is no better way to shout out for Aged Care Employee day this week, than to celebrate the winners and nominees of our 2nd Quarter Empower Excellence Awards.
⭐ Elijah – Community Support Office VIC
Elijah received praise on 3 separate occasions! Here's one:
“Elijah works efficiently and effectively under enormous amounts of stress at times, however, he never shows any sign of fluster or frustration and all the nursing staff appreciate his efforts enormously.”
⭐ Ronald – Podiatrist VIC
“Ronald exemplifies shared purpose through his work with us every day. On more than one occasion, Ronald has delivered footwear to his HC clients outside work hours and/or during a scheduled RAC day - to ensure clients are able to receive supportive footwear within a short turnaround. Last week, Ronald did a fantastic job delivering an Interactive Webinar to a group of Carers at the Benevolent Society. He was professional, informative and friendly in his delivery of Podiatric knowledge to the target audience. The webinar was very well received.
⭐Leon – OT WA
“Leon has consistently completed very thorough and high-quality reports, including for complex clients and new-to-him equipment. He is clearly putting in a lot of effort and care into his work”
⭐ Laura – OT QLD
“Laura had a very difficult client to manage who was unhappy about the cost of home modifications for reasons beyond her control. Laura went above and beyond for her client and managed to use an existing relationship with a builder to get a very good outcome for the client. The case manager for the client also reported to me that Laura had been fantastic to work with.”
A massive congrats to the above winners for your efforts and hard work, you are AMAZING, and we value and appreciate everything you do for Empower 😊
⭐⭐We would also like to congratulate the below employees for receiving praise from their managers/clients:
Charles – OT Melbourne
Chantal – OT Team Leader Brisbane
Kirsten – Operations Manager WA
Moses – Physiotherapist Melbourne
Megan – Nurse Melbourne
Julia – Physiotherapist Melbourne
Elaine – Massage Therapist Brisbane
Donna – Massage Therapist Melbourne
Katie – Nurse Melbourne
Trish – Nursing Clinical Manager Melbourne

Dysphagia is the medical term for difficulty in swallowing. Causes of dysphagia are any condition or event that weakens, damages, or removes the muscles, nerves, and other structures used for swallowing.
The multidisciplinary approach of Speech Pathologists and Dietitians in a community care setting ensures the needs of those with dysphagia are met.
Through collaboration and acknowledging the expertise of the other discipline, both Dietitians and Speech Pathologists provide individualised care and positively influence not only the health, but well being of those living with Dysphagia.

CONTENT WARNING! Grossness in the name of education 😮
Nurse Clinical Manager Trish attended a Wounds R Us two day seminar, focussed on the theoretical and practical components of wound debridement and everything needed to know about dressings and their application to wounds.
Wound management is a complex and specialised area of Nursing and all of our Empower Nurses are educated in wound management.
A thorough assessment of a person with a wound is required before deciding on a wound management plan and then they will aim to explain and manage behaviours to improve skin integrity, optimise healing and prevent possible recurrences.
Thanks
