Stuck in the maze of aged care fees?

Consider that a move into residential care is just a move into a new home. Instead of paying your existing bills, you will need to pay fees to the aged care provider. Even so, you can still divide your expenses into three categories:

The cost of your room – buy or rent
The cost of your living expenses – a fixed daily fee
The cost of your care – depends on your financial capacity (with most of the cost subsidised by government).

Over the next few months you may notice an increasing discussion in media and the community on how these fees should be set and paid for, with the Government reviewing recommendations recently released by the Aged Care Taskforce.
