“You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”.

When we had Anthony Albanese talking to pharmacists on a webinar and telling us these exact words, we didn’t expect that we’d have to face the biggest crisis in Pharmacy just a year and a half later.

The Federal Government wants to introduce Double Dispensing (where you’d get two months of medication at once) on 1 July this year.

At the moment there are medication shortages all over the place. Despite our best efforts, we are currently out of ALL strengths of Coumadin- a life-saving medication used to prevent stroke and heart attacks, along with hundreds of others. And don’t get me started on Ozempic!

Giving one person double (if we can even get it) will mean someone else will miss out. This is a bad policy, and needs to be stopped or your health, and that of your loved ones, may suffer.

On top of this, there would be a severe cut to every pharmacy’s funding. We have looked at this and cannot see how we could keep all of our staff. So which of our amazing team won’t have a job?

This is not a drill. Your family’s access to medication is at stake.

For 25 years Chris Campey has been running the Biggest Morning Tea in ‘HER’ Pharmacy.

Little did she know that her and her husband would benefit from the wide range of services offered by Cancer Council when diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and 2011 respectively.

Last month Chris retired after 43 years in this business (across 4 employers).

Pop into Piggott’s Pharmacy Merewether 9am-12pm today, to support a great cause and wish Chris well in her retirement

On the dedication page of "The Far Side Gallery 4," Larson wrote:

"When I was a boy, our house was filled with monsters. They lived in the closets, under the beds, in the attic, in the basement, and--when it was dark--just about everywhere.
This book is dedicated to my father, who kept me safe from all of them."

The attached cartoon from "The Far Side Gallery 4" makes me think that perhaps Pixar Animation Studios got its idea for "Monsters, Inc." from Larson since the heart-warming movie was released only in 2001.

Of course, there is no patent for ideas.
