We love having our school groups come in.

Not only do they improve on their swimming skills while they are here, we also incorporate water safety into the program, ensuring the message of being safe in and around water is heard and practiced.

Thanks to Brocklesby Public School for your great video, we had a great time with you all.

Seth, Stacey and Nadine have had a great day today at the ASSA conference. So much to learn in one day. Bring on tomorrow.

We have warned Laurie, our swimmers are coming for his!!

18/08/2024

We are very excited to be in the position to send Seth, Stacey and Nadine to the Gold Coast for a Swim School convention.

We are really excited to hear what they learn while they are around peers from around the country. All three of them are great networkers and will come back with new connections and ideas for our swim school going forward.

All three will be out of the water here until Wednesday morning, their classes have been covered and your children will have a great time learning from different instructors.

We wish them a safe journey and hope they get a lot out of the convention. Enjoy!

What lovely words Justin Clancy MP. We too wish Janine all the best on her new ventures.

We love that Gould Swim Academy has created so many wonderful memories for your family. We will continue to create those memories for many more Albury families in the future. It’s why we do what we do.

To the incredible GSA families and community,

I shall officially finish with GSA on 31st July, in a week and a bit! After 15 years this is a massive change for me. One that has been in the planning for two years and one that was not taken lightly. The transition that has been taking place in the past 12 to 18 months will, I am sure, mean that I shall not be missed. I know that GSA is in strong and capable hands!

I wish to thank every current and past team member, for your energy, enthusiasm, care and kindness that you delivered each shift. Without you all GSA would certainly not sit where it does now. Your contribution has always impressed me, and I am so appreciative to have worked with you all. Young families in Albury and surrounding communities are extremely fortunate to have such incredible people teaching their children the life-saving skills of swimming!

How do I describe the absolute privilege it has been to engage and connect with so many families in our community during the past 15 years?!! You have all been instilled in my heart forever! I have laughed, empathised, and grieved with many of you. I have witnessed many of you as first-time parents and been honoured to watch your families and children grow. WOW!!! So blessed! I thank you for placing great importance on your children learning the life-saving skill of swimming and nurturing their appreciation for water activities. You have all enriched my life far beyond what I ever imagined when we opened on 1st February 2010. Thank you!

My decision to leave GSA is based purely on moving into the next phase of my life. I am looking forward to new challenges and opportunities. GSA will continue as it currently is with Kristy at the helm and the most dedicated and gifted team taking great care of and pride in nurturing your children.

I shall be in next week to assist with the first week of the term and look forward to seeing as many families as possible.

Wishing all the incredible GSA families and the community the absolute best always!

Cheers Janine xx

We are so proud of our young staff members at Gould Swim Academy. We have an exceptional group of teenagers that help the teachers with their classes during the term, providing another friendly face in the water and give extra support for the students in the pool.

One of our junior staff members, Emily Darmody is currently overseas in Samoa after being selected to participate in a service trip for 2 weeks, assisting in the All Saints School.

Along with other students from independent schools in Perth, Brisbane, Wangaratta & Albury, Emily has been helping in a variety of ways.

Once over there, Emily found that one of the activities that was an option for the students was swimming. She jumped at the opportunity to help teach the yr 6, 7 and 8 students a thing or two from what she has learnt here at Gould. Up until now, the children had ‘paddled’ in the ocean but had never had any formal swim lessons.

We are so proud of you Emily and what you offer as a young person in our community. We are also so grateful that you have taken what you have learned with us and are sharing it with the world. Keep being amazing Em and keep loving what you do!!!

This week we have our holiday intensive program running at Gould Swim Academy. This is run as an additional/ alternative option to our regular term classes.

The swimmers come in for a class each morning, Monday to Friday, with a maximum of two children per class. Just two days in and we are seeing massive improvements already.

Some of our squad level swimmers have had a special treat this week as well with the Albury swim club coaches coming in every morning for the week for an intensive ‘swim club experience’. The swimmers and their parents are thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Thank you to Albury Swim Club, Wayne, Dawn and your many helpers for giving the children a sneak peak into the next step of swimming.

Tonight, Monday, we had our first 3 Gould Swim Olympic meets of the week.

With 3 very eager groups of students (more than 80 swimmers) , the kids brought their A game and swam like absolute champions.

All swimmers competed in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly (or dolphin). To say we are proud of them all for getting in there and giving it a go, would be an understatement.

A very special thanks to Sienna Toohey for coming in during our first session, swimming against the children and showing them all her recently earned bronze medal from the 2024 Olympic trials.

The swimmers were in awe of you Sienna and spoke about you the entire time they were there. I’m sure you’ve inspired many little swimmers to aim high.

We hope you all enjoy your swim meet this week, be sure to bring a great attitude and a couple of towels to keep warm between races. The water is warm but it can get fresh on pool deck this time of year.

If you have any photos you would like to share, perhaps of your children swimming, on the podium in the foyer or with Sienna and her medal, feel free to share in the comments. Such fun times!

See you all this week for our end of term fun !

FIRST LAP VOUCHERS *expire* Sunday 30th June.
If you have one to use then please email now. We can credit its value to next term.
We cannot accept after this date.

Get ready for the Gould Swim Academy Olympics!!!!!

Next week, starting Monday 1st July, and going through to Saturday 6th July, our morning students will be doing a circuit of Olympic sports as part of safety week. They will have so much fun trying new activities with an emphasis on safety.

Our afternoon students, however, will be involved in our Gould Swim Olympics where we run a swim race meet each night for our students to experience what a real meet might be like.

All races are 25m.

All families will have been informed of their meet time for next week. If you are unsure, please ask at reception and our friendly staff will be able to help you out. Due to the fact that we do combine a few classes for each meet, your time may vary slightly from your normal lesson time.

Please make sure to bring a couple of towels/ robes to keep warm between races.

When you arrive, one of our staff members will tell you your heat number and show you where to marshall for your races. We will have teachers in the pool to help anyone who needs a little bit of assistance, so everyone can have fun and join in the races.

Teen Sienna Toohey breaks Leisel Jones’ 24-year mark in record swim 12/06/2024

Well this is cool, Gould Swim Academy even gets a mention.

Teen Sienna Toohey breaks Leisel Jones’ 24-year mark in record swim Emerging teenager Sienna Toohey has wiped one of Australian swimming’s most celebrated names from the record books at the Australian Olympic trials in Brisbane.

11/06/2024

What a race!!!! Sienna Toohey is now officially the fastest 15yo female breaststroke (50m and 100m) swimmer Australia has ever produced.

She not only beat, but smashed Leisel Jones 100m (24 year old) record of 107.49 with an incredible 107.01

What an effort, and third by a touch at the Olympic trials. How incredible indeed.

Congratulations Sienna and coach Wayne Gould, we are all very proud of you here at Gould Swim Academy.

To us, Sienna, you will always be that tiny little girl skipping in to swim lessons. We are so proud to have introduced you to the world of swimming 🏊

Photos from Gould Swim Academy's post 07/06/2024

We would also like to wish these three superstars all the best as they too take on the best of the best in Australia at the 2024 Olympic Swimming Trials next week in Brisbane.

Sienna Toohey, Oscar Kreutzberger and Dorothy Pasko all learnt to swim with us here at Gould Swim Academy.

They started with us as only tiny little people and now look at them, taking on the world! They are very much on the radar of the ‘big wigs’ in the swimming world and are set to show everyone what they can do next week and beyond.

Local Albury teens, Sienna (aged 15) swims at Albury Swim Club and Oscar (aged 17) and Dorothy (13) at North Albury Swim Club.

We wish them every success and we know that they have all worked very hard to get where they are. The hard work does not go unnoticed, it will be rewarded. Keep up the great work 👏👏👏

We would like to wish one of our gorgeous young staff members Belle all the luck in the world as she competes next week in the 2024 Australian Olympic Swimming Trials in Brisbane.

I’m sure Belle is thrilled to know how much support she has behind her with so many lovely notes that you have posted on her photo in the foyer.

You have done all of the hard work Belle, it’s your time to shine. Enjoy the experience and no matter what the outcome, you are already a superstar in our eyes and a wonderful role model to many young swimmers, more than you really know.

Good luck and enjoy!

if you didn’t get a chance to write something on the wall for Belle, feel free to wish Belle well in the comments below 👇

Well done to the Kreutzberger boys, Oscar and Archie on their stellar performances at the Age National championships. They had a huge program and were very impressive to watch all week.

Local Albury boys, they learnt to swim with us here at Gould Swim Academy and now swim at North Albury Swim Club. Great job lads, we are all very proud of you both.

They have definitely been noticed on the National stage (as have their cheer squad) and we wish them all the best going forward. Albury is kicking goals in the swimming world.

As part of safety week this week, as well as our usual reach and rescues and talking about river safety, we have introduced CPR to our swimmers, from our preschoolers through to our squad kids.

The children have been taught how to check to see if someone is breathing and to make sure it’s safe to help, before ringing 000 and commencing CPR.

We spoke about why someone might not be breathing, for example maybe they have drowned or have choked on something (we tried not to be too dramatic but some of the kids suggested shark bites, heart attacks, being shot and being hit by buses 😳).

They were taught to do 30 compressions and then to check to see if they are breathing, then recommence 30 compressions again. We spoke about doing them to the beat of baby shark, they all know that song.

While this is very simplified CPR, our hope is that if the children ever come across someone performing CPR or happen to see it on TV, they will be a bit more informed on the what and why.

Have a talk to your swimmers about what they have learnt at swimming this week, you might be surprised by it.

POST YOUR FAVOURITE PUDDLE PIC PHOTO THAT YOU HAD TAKEN THIS WEEK!!!

Thank you to Jo from Puddle Pics for giving us a lot of entertainment over the past week. We hope that many families took up the chance to get underwater photos of their children as lasting moments from swimming lessons. All of the photos we have seen of the children are absolutely gorgeous.

And to finish off the week of having Puddle Pics with us, here are some photos to tickle the funny bone….. and yes, we are all MAD!!
