I have had this idea that I want to create a program on how to become your best self after professional burnout. I have transformed and learned so much about this through my own journey. I have been thinking about this for quite some time.

A while ago I had a burst of inspiration that I wanted to serve others and share how I became my best self after burnout. I have the idea to create a month-long, small group program to help others achieve the same results I have.

The idea came from knowing how much work I have already done. I have a list of what works and what doesn't. I want to save people from reinventing the wheel when I've done the work to love my job and my life. When I was in a repeating cycle of burnout, I never thought it was possible. I want those who are in it to know there's a way out. I love who I have become and am becoming. I want others to say the same about themselves because I know the world is a better place when we are in alignment and at our best.

Burnout was the catalyst for me to discover my true self so I could step into my best self. I have discovered and claimed my best life, one that I always dreamed of. My program will teach people how they can achieve this for themselves. I would love to have you co-create this life changing course with me!

We will be building something to help people transform into their favourite selves. Calm, happiness and energy abound. We are building a future of working professionals who have ended their struggle with stress using an array of tools.

Lives are going to be better because everything our people do will align with their core values. What they do makes them feel good, and they do it with confidence, security and ease on the daily.

🐦THE POWER OF CONNECTION 🐦

Do you believe in signs?

My sign is the male (blue) Splendid Fairy Wren. When I see one, it means I am exactly where I am supposed to be, or a green light to go forward on a decision I am debating. When you see your sign, you know all is well, and you are being looked after.

I have not seen a Splendid Fairy Wren live in the flesh in the longest time. Today, I was speechless when 2 flew across my path while walking and catching up with a very special friend. The kind of friend who you know you can talk about anything and everything with. You always come away enriched with a full cup after spending time with them.

I had a similar experience around this time last year. While soaking up the most uplifting girls’ weekend, a blue wren danced across our picnic area.

Just like when the wren visited me last year, this morning cemented and reminded me of the importance of making time to connect with friends. Of honouring my worth by taking time out for the pure pleasure and self-care value of doing it.

A while ago, I was confiding in a trusted family member about feeling overwhelmed. I wanted to retreat and protect my energy. He helped me see that what I was doing was hiding and avoiding challenges to my expectation of the worst-case scenario. He said: “depression loves isolation”. I could see that if I kept on this path of hiding in fear and not letting the love and help of others in, I would only feel more depressed.

Since then, I have doubled down on my commitment to nurture my social life and receiving the love my friends have to give. I take time for pure pleasure.

Drew Barrymore gave this interview over 6 years ago. I remember reading it in a magazine while waiting to get my eyebrows done.

This quote (or her version of it) hit me hard, deep, and has stayed with me ever since.

I have always admired Drew Barrymore. I read her autobiography when I was still in school, back when we would have a constantly refreshed stack of books at home from our local library (thanks Mum!). Drew was a child star and became an alcoholic, using drugs from a young age. She went to rehab and went on to have a very long and very successful acting and entrepreneurial career.

She had a tough upbringing and yet she didn't let her past dictate her present or future. She focused on what she wanted and took the steps to get it.

I love her outlook, that we cannot have it all in the same moment. This idea was recently brought back into my world. I was struggling to juggle all the things I thought I "should” do and trying to remember what I wanted to do.

I reminded myself that life is the longest thing we will ever do. I reminded myself life works in seasons. You might be in the season of parenting young children, that season will not last forever. You might be in the season of transitioning between a job and your own business. You might be in the season of setting up your new home, or living through a pandemic. Whichever the season you're in, remember it won't last forever. There are plenty more seasons in life to come. Appreciate and find joy in your current reality, your current season. Own your choices and priorities and lean in. Here is where you find peace and fulfilment. This too shall pass. The miracle is now.

🐕 GIVE YOURSELF AN EASY WIN 🐕

I've been struggling with this heatwave. We don't have air conditioning so I'm waking up earlier than I would like to.

This morning I managed to get back to sleep only to have a stressful dream (I almost always remember my dreams and they are very lifelike, usually set in everyday scenarios).

My mental vibrance is dipping with my sleep and the rising temperatures. When I woke up again I knew it was still early enough to walk without getting too hot.

Walking is one of my favourite self care practices- my body and mind always feel better after.

And I have made a commitment to make sure the dogs get walked everyday (somewhat of a new years resolution) after we dropped the ball a bit last year. This has been great for Craig and I spending time together at the beach, our bond with the dogs, and if course the dogs' wellbeing!

So while I woke up in a less than ideal frame of mind this morning, an easy win was right at my finger tips. Embrace the freshness of the morning while it's still here, feel good for walking yourself and the dogs. My first action for the day gave me a win. I am on the path to feeling better and enjoying my day more.

🛀 NOT ANOTHER BUBBLE-BATH-GRAM 🛀

I get it, Instagram can get flooded with pictures of bubble baths, scented candles and face masks.

They are usually accompanied with the hashtags and

❌ No judgement for being critical of this (I know I can be)! You might wonder “What is a b*%$ bubble bath going to do for me when I’m in the thick of burnout!?” “I’m stressed out of my mind, I have so much to do!” “It’s going to take a lot more than a scented candle to fix my issues!” ❌

I snapped this pic because it represents more than a hashtag for me. This bubble bath represents those special days I get once in a while when I slow down long enough. I get quiet long enough to listen to my body and what it wants. The last time I created this opportunity for myself was about 6 weeks ago. My body told me it wanted to go for a walk and a swim at the beach. So we did. And it was amazing!

🧘‍♀️ This time I heard I was craving an Epsom Salt bath and a face mask. I used this time to relax. I listened to a powerful visualization meditation and got clear on what I desire. I reconnected with myself and got grounded. 🧘‍♀️

🧖‍♀️ Bubble baths, face masks and all the other "light" and fluffy stuff play a beautiful part in our self-care routine. I will always believe complete self-care requires the “heavy” stuff. We need to work on worthiness, boundaries, protecting our energy and healing our trauma (whether that's trauma with a big “T” or a little “t”). There is room for both/and. We can't forget to have fun and enjoy life’s pleasures. 🧖‍♀️

✋ FREEDOM FROM FORCING ✋

If you are prone to burnout you may be prone to pushing or forcing outcomes or decisions. You may feel time pressure to get things or keep things moving out of fear something could go wrong or you will miss out on something.

Allow yourself to take a moment to remember a time where everything was going amazingly well. It could be in your work life, finances, or personal life. Allow yourself to connect with how that felt. Free? Easy? Peaceful? Define it for yourself.

Collect this memory and feeling as a reminder and as evidence that good things do happen to you. There is no reason they won't again.
